What did you do to your tank(s) today?

Does Crypt Petchii send out runners? I had no idea 🫢 but nope! Plants are massive though, each one is bigger than my hand!

Edit: Looked it up, learn something new everyday! That's so cool thank you!
I think they all do, but some are more aggressive than others.

Now to figure out what to put in there.
Well, in my Air Force days, we'd mix a big batch of Long Island Ice Tea in a Rubbermaid trash can (and throw in a bunch of miscellaneous sliced fruit). You could do the same in that aquarium since it looks like you have part of the ingredients already sitting next to it. ;)

Water change and general cleaning today. Felling better about this tank each day. Decided to take a macro shot while I was at it and drop it in the Media of the Month thread.

I also spent 15 minutes watching Josh Sim tear down his 2025 IAPLC scape because sadly, I have no life 😁 . It was interesting to learn how long an IAPLC grand champion scape lasts. The answer: 3 months.

A couple days ago I added Eriocaulon Vietnam, Mayaca Fluviatilis, tissue culture Myriphyllum Elatinoides, and tissue culture Buce Brownie to my 10 gallon "Dutch." I know it's too small to really do it but I am enjoying practicing my horticultural skills. Today I did a trim and replant cycle for my Rotala Blood Red and my Ludwigia Repens. The top growths were very healthy so hopefully this next growth cycle will be lush.

Now I just need a curtain plant for the left (thinking a small Corkscrew Val or similar) and for everything to fill in :)

Those days are now but hazy memories. A bit more pedestrian though, just grape juice and Everclear.

Crazy how that happens!

Wabi Kusa?
Funny you should mention that. Made with trimmings from the 60S.

Coir and 3-4mm lava rock. I followed the method in Jurijs Jutajevs' video.

Since the above image, it's grown a bit. It took BRS Fresh 3 tries to get me an AquaWorx SOL that didn't flicker. It would have helped if the first two were not someone else's returns. To their credit, they kept shipping without having to return first.

Once a week, I take it out, rinse the stones, and refresh with RO water. Twice a week, it gets a spritz of ATP Dew.

Now in place.

I did the Wabi Kusa workshop at the AGA a few years ago. It was great. I've been wanting to set it back up, but required getting some "tulle." It is a mesh fabric. I had never heard of it before. I would need a 16" square and the least it came in was like 10 yards. I have the recipe for the media. Also, I would have had to source like 1 Crypt and 2 stems of a Rotala. Nobody wants to mess with that. So getting it going was going to be more effort than I wanted to spend. I'll watch this video. Maybe I'll be able to get it back going.

BTW: AGA is next year in Sacramento for anyone interested.

I think you'll find this is a much simpler method. Just coir, stones, and nylon or polyester thread to construct the ball.
Yeah, what I have is just 1 more ingredient. It uses aquasoil which would provide some nutrients. But overall, I think the recipe he/you uses would be easier to source. I'm trying to think if either would be easier to make several balls and then store them long term. Yours are wet, so they would mold, but you could freeze them. I can't remember if we wet the AGA stuff when we made it.

Maybe we could start a separate discussion somewhere.
