I took down the 10 g Moina tank. I’ve had a lot of trouble keeping the little bugs alive, the automatic feeder gets soggy inside, and I’ve been wanting to reduce weekly maintenance anyway. This is the only tank I can easily part with, so it’s gone. I’ll just keep it as an emergency backup, quarantine etc.
Sorry, nothing exciting, lol!

I have someone dropping in to purchase some plants to fill two tanks, a 6 ft and i think 3ft.
So they are going to need a whole bunch of plants.

I normally give people a lot more than what they pay for in any case, they are just trimmings from my tanks after all.

Not sure what type of tanks they have but almost certainly wont be high tech. I don't think I've sold any plants yet to someone that has a high tech tank. The average hobbyist I've found just has the typical low tech tank with a handful of plants. I've also found they always way underestimate the amount of plants they need.

Anyways, I'm thinking of sending their way some blyxa japonica, Val, red rotala, blue stricta, some star grass and pearl weed. Maybe some Hydrocotyle Tripartita.

Hey! I got rocks too. 50 lbs of @Jeff Miotke's favorite rock, El Jefe. Wish Tom Barr would've power washed it after he collected it though.

That is awesome that he did a box for you. Looks like a good set! I’ve collected this stuff and I can tell you its ridiculously hard work. I think he does it more to stay in shape than make extra cash😁

I bought it from the shop Tom sold it to. I was just joking about him washing it for me. I'll probably power wash all of it this weekend. I was hoping the shop would've sent a couple larger stones but that's ok, your videos show us how to make a few smaller stones look like a single big stone. ;)

Last couple of days, prepping for the month away,
Everything has had a water change, last one for awhile, just Top ups. Fresh bottle of Gas, and finally got around to adding a timer for all the lights, why I didn't do it sooner, makes everything so much easier.
Big trim of the Hair grass, also did the second hard trim of the Rotala, the stems are about an inch to inch and a half tall now, some have got three branches. Never grown them before, I've got about 6 or so inches to the waterline, trying follow the 2hr Aquarist guide to bushy stems to fill the space to waterline. I've yet to see it looking good :), as it's been trimmed so early and hard. so won't have to look at it for a month.
The shrimp in the bowl, ones just dropped her eggs and is saddled again, not sure if there little shrimp or not, was hoping to see them. The other is still berried. Hopefully will have a few more when I get back.

I'm doing emergency water changes on my discus aquarium - background:

Two of my blackwater aquariums broke with with bba that last 4 to 9 months (i didn't time it and time flies) and then the bba dies - not a little death but like complete death - the first aquarium cleared about 3 months ago and you would never know it had bba ; the 2nd aquarium was the discus aquarium and it is now clearing after at least 6 month of very thick lush bba everywhere. Of course all that dead bba has to go somewhere and it clogs the prefilter into the sump so i have to lower the water level below the intak to the sump to clean the sponges.

What i do not understand is what triggers the bba to grow and then what triggers it to like die so completely. The aquariums have inert substrate and true blackwater condition with ph around 5 and ec around 20. On the bright side plants grow extremely well in this environment (well plants that like softwater - those that prefer hard water are more problematic).

All 3 active aquariums have been neglected while I focused on my home office remodel. With that finally complete, I got back to the tanks today and performed major maintenance on 2 of the 3. Major trimming, replanting with fresh root tabs, and big water changes plus one filter cleaned (will do the other tomorrow) and pipes cleaned. The third tank(the farm Tank) will get the full treatment tomorrow.

I set it on its stand!

With the office remodel done (except for hanging some new wall art) I have the new Waterbox Clear 25 set up and ready to scape. Still working on the vision of what the scape will be though. Once I have the vision, I'll start another journal. There will also be a new Waterbox Clear 16 going next to this one.

made an undersized @Yugang co2 spray bar since I don’t have enough room underneath for a horizontal reactor. getting ~30-35 from a Hanna co2 test, which is the highest I’d want it at since I have some shrimp.
@Dinopuppy6 nice! Where did you get the clips holding the spray bar against the back of the tank?

Usual weekly water change on this tank along with the usual weekly trimming. I started a few months ago with a bit of pearl weed and had designs to grow a carpet along the front. Then a couple months ago I bought one pot of Monte Carlo. Now that's starting to run along the left, I'm gradually ripping up the pearl weed bit by bit to make way for the MC lol. Although I actually don't mind the pearl weed as a carpet when trimmed but up close the MC does look better.

The rotala wallichii always looks the worst after a haircut, although I admit I still haven't got close to working out what makes that plant tick. I've seen a few pics online and they look great but mine, although grows well, doesn't look like these fancy pics online!

Also started my DIY ferts a few weeks ago with the various chemical salts. So I think the tank is still adjusting/balancing to that change too with a tiny bit of what looks like single strands of filamentous algae but I could be wrong. Nothing to worry about though.

I’ve gotten a few new plants recently. And I’ve been putting plant weights with filter sponge on bunches of plants that I’m planning to sell.
