The Auto Art tapped me on the shoulder with a reminder to update this thread.
For the most part, the tank is on auto-pilot. Weekly water changes, daily ferts, and fish feeding.
What have we learned?
Ruby Tetras are assholes. They hide until feeding time, then chase each other away from the food. They are also vicious little hunters. I've not seen a baby shrimp in months. These little terrors will not tolerate any other fish or shrimp in their little territories, chasing away even the most docile pygmy corys.
Swapped out the 5lb CO2 tank; it lasted 320 days. Still had some left, but I was headed out of town for a few days, and the high side reading was dropping. Better safe.
The plants are doing well, I think. Nothing looks amiss. I've added some Bacopa and AR. The latter has some amazing burgundy coloration on the emersed growth.
Had a bunch of Buce clumps languishing in little tubs that I had planned for other things. Stuff went a bit sideways, so I plopped them in this tank. The growth rate has surprised me. I just placed them loosely on the substrate. They float up some during the day as O2 bubbles form under the leaves. The shrimp and corys enjoy exploring under the semi-floating Buce.
The tank has been up for almost a year. Thought drifts towards a rescape, then I watch the goings on, and those thoughts drift away for a time.
A bunch of unedited iPad-sourced obligatory pictures.
