Help This is new!

What has changed since you've seen this? I hear not enough K (Potassium) will do this in certian species. Some soils will suck up those positive ions eg K+ so that its bound up in the soil making the plant use its roots vs leaves. Just a thought. Easy to test for, add some K2SO4 for a few weeks.

At this point I'm wondering about all of your macros and what levels they're at.

Calcium? Magnesium? Do you remineralize or use RO water? If not, what's your tap?

Get the salifert test kits for NO3, PO4, and K if you want more info. I've tested (and used) them extensively and they're good, accurate kits. Might help diagnose what's going on, too.

I will need to buy the above test kits to proceed then, will update in time...

To answer the question above, I am currently dosing APT “E,” which should cover all nutrients. I am dosing at roughly three times the recommended amount.

I do not use R/O water and rely solely on tap water.

Unsure if the above helps at all, its the last posted water quality report for my city.

Yes what's your GH? If its near zero you can just go straight to a remineralizer 💯💯

Seattle water is famously, ridiculously low mineral 😬 it runs straight over granite and into your tap.

Hi Koan,

Thank you for the response, my gH as of current is measured at 6 (100ppm~) using the API gH test kit.

This is 1 day after a water change.

Are you remineralizing or is that from your tap? Do you know how much is Ca and how much is Mg?

I am not remineralizing. The Aquascapes water is from the tap.

I do not have the appropriate test kits to test for Ca and Mg, however i do plan on purchasing the test kits that Rocco had recommended.

I used to live where the GH coming out of the tap was like 6, but it was all Ca because my tanks didn't take off until I started adding some Mg. Plants did OK, but the water turned into Sprite when I started adding Mg. After years I finally figured out why my plants grew sluggish and then moved a few months later. 😆
