Been busy for me. Added 5 nerite snails and ten rummies. Changed water on three tanks, trimmed plants and trimmed the eliocaris pussilla mini. Two days ago added some amano and long tail cherry barbs. Day before that replaced my sunsun filter with a jbl - figured it was time to get a more reliable filter before it breaks :) to be fair it's been performing well but..saw a good second hand deal and took it

Gradually catching up on the to-do list. These are ready to be installed. The large one will replace the vertical reactor on my 49g tank and the small goes on the new 25g tank. Farther down the list, is writing up the build for these.

I realized after doing a lot of reading here that I was not confident in the temperature of my tank. I ordered a Thermapen and it got here last night. Mercury thermometer reading: 78. Thermapen reading: 86! I have been wondering why my plants were giving off distress vibes (besides my terrible noobness) and I think that may be part of the problem.

So, tank got bumped down and this morning got a small bump down again. Hopefully that is the last adjustment to get to 78-79.

Starting this tank as a “practice” tank before scaping the office tank may be the smartest thing I have done. I have made a bunch of errors that I can learn from and not repeat (big assumption).

An Inkbird Temperature Controller is a very wise investment, especially considering how unreliable aquarium heaters can be. They also make a wifi version of the one I linked which enables tracking of temp fluctuations and how often and how long the controller is actually on.

Thank you so much! I’ll look into it.

Accidentally knocked all the moss off of one back panel. I guess the thread had rotted away, and when I did the water change it just all came rolling off. I don’t have time to sew a moss wall today, so I chucked it all in a farm tank until I can deal with it. Maybe I should redo all of them. 🤦‍♀️

I took down the 20 gallon low-tech farm tank today, stored it and the empty 10 gallon, and moved the stand upstairs to store in the garage (or maybe use as a plant stand somewhere). Tomorrow I plan to take down the shrimp bowl and the shrimp cube, and move that stand in place under the tv (where the 10/20 g stand had been). The current high-tech farm tank will have to be moved to this stand and the blackwater tank will have to come down to make room for the new 75 g.
I’m kind of glad it’s taking Waterbox a few weeks to ship the new tank out!

I added a betta to my 6 gallon practice tank. He was given as a gift to someone who doesn’t have the time for him, so the owner posted on Reddit’s aquaswap group. Drove down after work, came home with the betta and two nerite snails.

I would have a huge betta rescue setup, if I could. Anyway, here’s Hollywood! IMG_1146.webp
