I’ve tried to put my email in, but as far as I can tell it hasn’t taken it. Is there a particular browser needed?
Youre on there (I got your email off paypal and checked). Must've forgot you did it which is why it wont take it again

Wauw, awesome executed style, health and contrasts! I like it very much.

It’s way out of my comfort zone to give some suggestions to such a quality tank, so I keep it a one. I would think a vista / view through would create more sense of depth.

Please ignore it when it doesn’t fit your style.
Cheers.

Thanks! What do you mean by "vista/view through" exactly?

Well, if I examine your tank closely, you have a black background.
When you make some room in the back, one could see a bit more of the black back, suggesting the tank is deeper by ‘looking into the dark abyss’.

Does it make any sense what I’m trying to explain? (As I am no native English speaker)

Same, page just refreshes as if nothing happened. Android phone / couple different browsers.
Hmm, OK Kwyet was already signed up is why it was doing that with her. Are you sure it didnt take it? It refreshes like you said. The only thing that changes is the little sentence on the bottom "thanks for subscribing"

There are a couple more on the list since last night. Could you please pm me your email and let me check to see if youre on there?

*Update: This has been solved. It wont tell you if your email is already signed up. It just refreshes and looks like nothing happened. There should be no issues for any device or browser. If anyone has a problem or doesnt think it worked just shoot me a mssg and we'll make sure you get on there :)

Gotcha. I thought thats probably what you meant just wasnt sure. And yes that is a classic Dutch move that all good ones have, a few areas where you can see all the way to the background itself. Your term is as good as any I know of for that, lol

If you look at the dark area above where the street ends, and also just above the Kimberly between the Limno, in those dark areas you are looking all the way through to the back wall. But I agree a little more of that would add to the coveted depth effect. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks bro! And well good luck re-reading Gregg's because those assholes deleted his whole journal. Still cant believe how incredibly butthurt that mod had to be over something totally unrelated. The hobby lost a valuable resource right there

Yes indeed! As Ive been saying for the last 3 years, its just around the corner lol. Seriously though should have it open in a matter of weeks now
Joe I actually have a full copy of the journal. It would take a while to fix it up as a lot of the picture links are broken. Who knows maybe someday I will figure out a way to post it. With all of the talented people who contributed there was a wealth of knowledge there and it really is too bad that that idiot deleted the entire thread.

Now as to Burraqua I hope I am still on the list. I think I was the first person to sign up which is now many years ago!

Truly unbelievable that that happened. But, maybe better things may have come up for Mr. Greggz as the result of that unfortunate event? This forum is loaded with some wonderful people. Some of the smartest and most experienced people in the hobby are on here, and he is now the moderator, so perhaps he got the last laugh!
Thanks and yeah it all worked out just fine. I don't know if you were around when the whole thing blew up but it made for several days of some serious funny stuff on the FB forums. Once the word got out it was like releasing the Kraken.......people I never knew followed the thread came out of the woodwork in support. Got a little out of control but made for some good reading that is for sure.

Sad thing is I check in there from time to time just to see what is going on and it's become a beginners forum with mostly the blind leading the blind.

After that Art reached out and floated the idea of this forum.........and here we are several years later now and what I think is a great resource for the hobby.

I would love to read it someday if you’re able to get it fixed up. I don’t know exactly what happened, but it’s a shame it was taken down.

Here's what happened as I remember it. There was a discussion in an unrelated thread about whether it was Ok to run zero KH. The mod we'll call SS wrote a long post on the dangers of running zero KH and PH crashing and all that. Gregg made a post shortly after saying it was fine to have zero KH, he'd been doing it for years, etc. It wasnt argumentative or confrontational in any way, didnt even directly address the mods post. Just well Ive been doing it for years and never had a problem sort of post

Mod got mad and probably embarrassed for being clearly wrong, because of course Gregg was famous and his journal offered years of proof that zero KH was alright. So he banned Gregg for "habitually starting trouble" or something ridiculous like that, and then went so far as to delete his whole journal out of spite

Thanks for explaining! Sounds like it was a severe overreaction. Everyone including SS seems to accept that that isn’t a problem these days. I went looking for that journal after joining ScapeCrunch and was pretty disappointed that I couldn’t find it.

I think it would be great if you and Joe could resurrect your journal. I know I would appreciate it as would many others.

I wasn't around then, but I was reading Joe's journal on PT and kept seeing your input throughout the pages. I could tell you two were friends and that you had some really valuable input. I was messaging Joe about ordering some stem plants after I finished reading his journal and said "hey, what ever happened to Greggz?" He kinda told me the story and invited me to this forum, told me you were on here, etc. That's how I ended up on here. So your journal I read was the one you have on here now, but I would still love to read the infamous one!

Was funny a couple years later I actually saw a long post from him expounding on the many reasons it was totally fine to have zero KH. Pretty sure I screen-shotted it and sent it to Gregg lol

Joe when you sent me that screen shot of what SWS posted about low/zero dKH tanks I couldn't believe it. I swear it was almost exactly what I said in the post that got me banned. Really almost word for word.

In general my point was that pH crashes are not caused by low dKH, they are almost always caused by super poor maintenance. And I pointed out that not only me, but loads of very well respected planted tankers from around the world also ran very low/zero dKH tanks. It was against his thoughts at the time and I wouldn't back down......so hence the separation.

I think it would be great if you and Joe could resurrect your journal. I know I would appreciate it as would many others.

Great story and I am glad Joe sent you this way. The old journal was over 200 pages with over 4K posts.......so it was a lot to get through! Took a lot of stamina but there were a lot of great nuggets in there. It turned into a real group effort where many great plant growers hung out and shared their experiences.

@TRyan Since you’ve been posting here I’ve noticed you posting over there too and I wanted to tell you to not waste your time anymore lol

I like you also spent a lot of time in aww of Gregg’s and Joe’s tanks, other than Amanos awesome stuff their work is what pushed me to want to go the planted route. I ultimately left that other community because the only consistent posts were complete newbies and just repeated threads of the same thing over and over with BOLDED PLEASE HELP titles. I also noticed there was a large distaste for soil based tanks like I create and I was tired of defending it when the failure was blamed on the “soil” and not the application of it.

I post there too because I have a bunch of journals there, and I am also more likely to be able to help newbies there than experts here.
I really enjoy all the quality knowledge available here (quality over quantity 🙂). If we could have more than one journal attached, it would help the usability a lot. I do really like that this one has been set up as a charitable organization instead of as a money-making business.

I remember reading through a few thousand of those post when I got started as the journal had been around a few years at that point. It was really great insight and what really drew me to Dutch style. There was alot of things I didn't understand at the time since I was so new to it all and it stinks it's gone cause it was a great resource. Plus all those beautiful shots of the tank through the years and of course removing the big dumb log 😂.

Ultimately you and Joe have pushed the hobby with the custom microdosing and we wouldn't be where we are at today if it wasn't for you two experimenting.

Good advice! I'm starting to realize this... And like @Kwyet said, "Quality over quantity!" So true...
