Well, I'm tankless at the moment due to circumstances so will post a few of my last ones. Nothing near the masterpieces of others but I try.

Had a Dutch-inspired a few years ago when I was trying different techniques. This one had a sump and I ran carbon to minimize water changes.

Then I moved to an apartment so I changed it up with a more fitting UNS 90 with more traditional equipment. I first wanted to go traditional aquascape with stone.

Then I said, forget it. I like the stems too much! Ended up with a Dutch-inspired, wabi sabi combination.

Thinking about what's next for me.

So what are you doing this weekend??

Me? I hit the nuclear button and doing a full-tank reset! Wish me luck!!

Hope it works out for you! When I did mine last March (I think) the restart went much smoother than I thought. I did a complete substrate change and tank clean out. I left the filter alone for maybe a month after before cleaning it. Also dosed up some tetra safe start just to be safe. I didn’t have any loses fishes and only minimal new tank algae. All my algae problems started later when I got messing with the layout by uprooting.

My weekend tank plans are to hopefully watch the slime die 🙏🤞🏻. Just cleaned all the mechanical sponges in my 3 low tech tanks HOB filters. Need to do the air driven sponge filters next week.

So… was that top photo the before photo? The one showing what you were resetting from???? Or after having pulled plants?

Ok, went back in your journal and pretty much found my answer…

Seeing the tank definitely changes my perspective on your prior post of whether to rest the tank now or wait till you get back from a trip…

You had nothing to lose in resetting now….

Sadly, that was what was left. I didn’t have much to pull.

When you posted your query as to whether you should reset now or wait till you get back, in my minds eye I was seeing a lushly planted stable tank that you were tired of and wanted something new..

Friday I was Studying the 2 hr Aquarist site and ran across this quote….

“ When a tank looks picture perfect, it is almost always near its tipping point.”

And I thought, “Isn’t that a cheerful sentiment.”

Seeing pictures of your tank before running out of CO2 and having life intrude so you couldnt replace it quickly, makes that quote come alive in my mind…

Seeing what you accomplished before however reinforces,,, “ You made it on e, you know how to build it again…”

I'm a Scotch guy... cheers!

My tissue culture grow out method. Move them to a plastic cup and weigh it down with the metal wrap used for stem plants. Then let them continue to mature and grow roots.

Fingers crossed 🤞 so far so good.

Latest shaky picture. Plants are growing but I also still see some BBA on some of the older leaves and stems. I added 6 SAEs and will now start to focus on dialing in the fertilizer. I think I'm too lean at the moment.
