Well I still have a long journey with these lights I believe. I’m just doing initial tuning by eye . No par readings at this point I don’t have a meter .

Initially I didn’t like the purplish light so I balanced it better . Below are my setting for the week aqua A430 currently as they most likely will change View attachment 1403

Well I have a few updates although I am far from done if that even exists lol

This past week :
Removed all livestock and plants temporarily

Painted background black ( after tring vinyl and not being so sure I ended up staying in my Lane and using a water based all surface Enamel in factory black from Sherman Williams ) I used a foam roller it took 6 coats with about 30 min in between with a fan and a hair dryer .

I stirred up substrate and did water changes over and over again untill the water was clear

Reinstalled everything and put tank back against the wall and shimmed level again

Added all livestock and some plants back in

Fun times I’m beat

Durning my reset I added fritz turbo start

2 days later I have seen a small rise in ammonia so I am doing a 50 percent water change daily or every two days as needed for a couple of weeks .

RE: the top off controller, can this be used on a rimmed tank? What is the distance between the very tippity top of the controller and the water level?

This is one of the most frustrating things for me. I really want an ATO, but they’re really hard to incorporate into an un-drilled, rimmed tank. The issue comes into play with the sensor, in that if it’s sitting fully below the inside rim of the tank, then the water level is low enough that it’s visible below the plastic rim from the outside.

1” from bottom of optical eye ( waters surface ) to the top of the internal magnet . The external magnet sits lower than the internal magnet by 5/8”

There are several other factors here this item is quite detailed

It appears as of the optical eye is adjustable on its magnetic bracket.

Additionally there is a universal holder available 3155.250. It is typically designed for a glass pane without trim however an adapter for a trim can be purchased from another company that mimics a piece of glass that is without trim.

So there may be several work arounds here for you to utilize the Osmolator

Currently my water changes are frequent due to the reset every 2 to 3 days while monitoring ammonia levels however they have not risen since the first day and second day after the reset since then they have been clear.

Very nice looking, imitating APT complete? I think you're missing a short foreground plant. Something like blood vomits would work well I think, not very rare though.

Thank you I am in a holding pattern right now I just sort of plopped these plants in here I am waiting for some sort of a backlash from resetting my scape hopefully not but we’ll see
