We aint worried 'bout no stinkin Dutch rules here!

This is the 75 gal in the living room. Just been having fun with it lately. Some of this is left over from being a dutch 6 months ago. The rest is a combo of stuff growing out and stuff I added because it looked cool

Bacopa salzmannii Purple in great color, needs a lighter plant behind it to show up better. The wild palm tree-looking stem is Erio dalzeli, formerly sp Kannurense. @OmidNiav this is that 1" micro stem I showed you that survived! lol Got a big stump from it in another tank, thats a replanted top

This sweet little green in front is Limnophila barteri aka sp Vietnam. A little algae on the old leaves of a couple stems. Behind is Limno aromatica mini. Its in a bunch going out Mon, just sitting there for the time being

Think Im gonna do moss on the back of the next Dutch. Thats a panel with Thai on it

Down front is a new Ludwigia species, sp Red Skeleton. Should call it Orange Skeleton imo. Its almost certainly part Ovalis, same leaf shape, same lean and branch growth pattern, slightly bigger leaves that feature a strong venation pattern

But wait, theres more! The underside of the leaves is pink

My LFS has had red skeleton, but it's always grown emersed so I haven't bothered to try growing it. I do like that color though!

This came emersed too, I think from apf. Id been seeing it but was sure it's converted form would be a let down, at the very least itd lose the venation. Nope, didnt change much other than leaf size and shape

I expect it will be fairly common pretty soon. So far its been very easy and very fast, same pace as the ovalis pink in my tank. Good looking plant too. Im pretty sure I dont have it showing optimum color yet..

@rzn7z7 Thanks bro! The green is Heteranthera Zosterifolia aka Star grass. Its pretty common, fast, and very easy. It doesnt even need CO2. The reddish one is Rotala wallichii 'Vietnam'.

You guys think this is a better picture, as far as the pic itself, brightness, color, etc. This is my Samsung phone camera on auto setting, which always comes out way overexposed and too bright with washed out colors. This one Ive done a boatload of dimming in post, this is the best I can get it

Im trying to take better pics, I usually use pro mode but not sure what else to do in pro mode to get them brighter without overexposure, and also to kill the weird warmness that I think my pics always have. Adjusting the temp in post helps but its still there. The three main settings in pro mode are "temperature", "speed", and ISO. I keep iso around 100, and adjust the "speed" (brightness) as needed for each shot. Temp I just put it as close to tru life as possible

Am I imagining things or is the top pic better?

Also any tips will be welcome.

I actually like the bottom pic better. The top one looks too bright to me, so the colors aren’t as dramatic.

If I could produce such a quality tank I would settle for both pics, so thumbs up! That aside, I like the darker one.

The top pick is definitely overexposed. Look at the highlights and you can see that you are actually losing color (hence the washed out look) in those areas. Areas that should be red or green are nearly colorless. Bottom pick gets my vote.

I'm sure you already know about this, but just in case, I wanted to mention. Have you used the little slider when you tap on the screen to reduce the exposure some? It can be a bit imprecise, but might get you what you want.

I recently got into reading The Krib, which is literally just an archive of exchanges from the 90s. It's old, but great stuff. I'm not even sure what the original platform was, but I'm glad the information has been preserved.

This is an older post, but I was skimming some forums last night for tips and saw it. I felt the need to answer.

The exchanges in The Krib mostly came from the “Aquatic Plants Digest” APD, we called it. It was a text only bulletin board page. For people in the US, it was where it all started. It lasted from the mid 90s until forums where you could post pictures were invented. We debated things like....

• What the optimal level of CO2 was.. 15? 22? 30?
• How to get the most out of your yeast generated CO2. A big new thing was suspending it in gelatin.
• Which T-8 fluorescent combination/bulb was best or were you sticking with T-12. Some people still had incandescent.
• The new amazing substrate, Flourite.
• How to best limit phosphorus
• Were Dupla substrate heating cables really needed for a successful planted tank
• How to make cheap PMDD
• How you used laterite in your tank

So many people have come and gone since those days, but some people you may know are Tom Barr, Vin, I believe Art was there, The Senske brothers, Luis Navarro, and of course, me. I’m sure there are more.

The APD used to be archived somewhere, but I can’t find it.

In the last fts up there, thats a clump of Helanthium bolivianum angustifolius. Tall grassy plant, spreads via runners like a Val. Heres a couple more pics of it
