I’ve been following this thread and wondering if anyone would bring up this particular substrate. It seems the marketing machine for this new product is now in full swing.
As many of you know, ADA has been selling "Amazonia Ver. 2" for several years, but some may have noticed that "Amazonia Gold" (identifiable by its yellow lettering) was also available during that same period—it could still be found in stores as recently as two years ago.
Interestingly, ADA never promoted this specific substrate in their videos, demonstrations, or other promotional materials.
About 2–3 years ago, in a video filmed at the ADA gallery—I don’t recall if it featured Homma or Daichi Araki—this very substrate was used to set up a tank, with its pros and cons discussed in detail. It was described as being significantly richer in nutrients and was compared to the original version of Amazonia.
If I remember correctly, that was the only time this product appeared publicly; it wasn’t mentioned either before or after that instance.
I say this half-jokingly—and I’m certainly not spinning any conspiracy theories—but how can we be sure that this isn’t the exact same substrate that is now hitting the market under the name "Amazonia PRO"?
The coloration is similar, which suggests a high peat content. We’ll see how it performs in the long run; hopefully, it won’t turn into mud after 3–6 months of use—something that, unfortunately, often happened with many batches of Amazonia sold in those colorful bags.
