Thoughts about Cedar driftwood in a planted tank? My research says it’s a bad idea, but curious if that has practical rationale behind it.

I bought a med-large piece from Belinda’s Driftwood. I was disappointed when it arrived and it was cedar. It’s obviously a buyer-beware situation.

I haven’t put it in an aquarium. I soaked it in water for a month and it still had a strong enough cedar smell to where I did not feel comfortable putting it in a tank. It is currently in my shed and I will reevaluate it in the Spring.
