Hi,

Never bought online before, but tried out aquarium plant factory for some tissue culture plants. They arrived quickly and well packed but in packets rather than small tubs that I am used to seeing. Just planted them recently and look ok. Curious if this is something common and if it any implications on quality.

Thanks

APF actually does this at least with their Bucephalandra expressly to give them shelf life.

With light, Buces can survive in those packets for weeks if not months, if for some reason you can't get them planted when you expected to.

Ask me how I know 🙄🙄😅

Same, that’s how mine came. Their TC actually worked quite well for me, and my giant bush of Java fern petite is from their TC pack.

My only gripe is their customer service. I and several others have ordered plants and recieved the wrong plant. In an attempt to correct the issue by sending them pictures, they simply respond stating they sent the correct plant. It’s clearly a business with little actual plant knowledge and not run by hobbyist minded people, but to their credit they have a ton of inventory at all times.

I received a couple plastic bag "flasks" from Aquarium Plants Factory today. I like these better I think. The plant were so much bigger. They were much easier to tease apart, and I didn't feel like I destroyed so much doing it. I did not like that they weren't labeled. Yeah, they had a number on them, and I could cross reference with the packing slip, but that seems a bit lame. The name should be on the bag. I would definitely buy from them again.

Which ones did you get? I got the rotala blood red and h.pinnarifida which was a really good amount and they are thriving so well. Pogostemon deccanensis all melted but my water needed to have lower kh, now with a lower kh I am starting to see some small sprouts

I got Rotala Florida and Pogostemon sellata Dassen. Probably shouldn't have gotten the Dassen, but nonetheless, I have it. If I wanted to, I think I could have separated into 2-3 stem portions and planted, but I don't see a need to do that. I divide them into a bunch of small groups and plant. Doesn't matter what you do, tc is a bit tough to make look good first time. I always have to plant groups, get them growing, then dig them up, take off the tops and plant them better organized.

I have Rotala Florida and Sunset now. We are on our way to that 2hr Aquarist tank :)
I'm not exactly shooting for that, but I love those in the pics he has been posting.
I want to try that some day though.

With you on this!!
I think I have Pogostemon stellatus dassen, got in my lfs in an emersed form. It is one of the most beautiful plants, with a nice purplish hue; but it got quite big. You can see it behind the bacopa on the right. Removed it and put it in a corner a month ago and it is just starting to recover.
