Journal My experimental jungle

Ammania pedicellata stunts when you do ANYTHING to it :( That is one finicky plant. Color me impressed with the way you're able to keep that Ludwigia Pantanal in check!
Lol, it needs months and months of stability to reach full potential for sure. It's a lot more forgiving than most think though.
That pantanal will reach the surface in 5-7 days max... I hate it lol, but it's still my favourite plant.

Tank is gonna be left alone for two weeks in june~
A bit nervous but....
Ive set up an ATO, so the tank gets topped up with RO water while I'm gone.
Also planning on reducing temp to 22c
Lowering light to maybe 50% of what it's at now....
Not sure what to do for dosing? Just dose one week's worth for two weeks before I leave?
Obviously every stem will be trimmed all the way down to something like 2-3 inches and I'll only keep a couple stems of pantanal because it grows way too fast to be left alone as a bush.

Any tips from someone who's done this before?

Just leave it. You don't need to do any preparation. You can trim it when you get back and it will be fine.

I travel a lot for work and I agree with @gjcarew. First few times, I would drive myself nuts over the details prior to a trip and make a ton of adjustments. I found that stability is better than trying to account for a week or two of no trimming or water change.

You will get back to an overgrown but relatively healthy tank. You will spend a week or two getting it back in shape and you'll be just fine.

Go enjoy your two weeks away. I hope it's vacation.

Dealing with some BBA in my blood vomits. Trying different flow configurations and ordered some hydrogen peroxide well. Plants seem mostly happy by the pantanal is still not growing flat leaves. The leaves are crumbly and weak. IMG_20230606_221124.webp

Don't you hate when you lose a plant you're trying to cultivate. This is rotala macrandra variegated. this mutation occured spontaneously and was stable. Unfortunately I lost the plant and obviously am unable to replace it.
