Moving a tank

How do I move this 25 gallon tank to the basement ? It has a relatively deep layer of aquasoil but otherwise just plants.

Would 2 people be able to move this tank downstairs ? Or would I need to remove the aquasoil ?

Drain water as low as you can without sucking up the substrate, then carefully move with two people at least. Definitely doable, but it will be HEAVY. Heavier than you expect.

Myself and a friend moved a 32g tank with substrate, seiryu stone, driftwood, and plants from the apartment of the person I purchased it from to my basement. As @Naturescapes_Rocco said, drain it down to the substrate first.

After draining it can help to slide it onto a sturdy board that's wider and longer than the tank.

Then you and the person helping you will both will be able to grip the board rather than trying to hold on to the corners of the tank, and can move it without tripping over each other's feet.

I second this. I move my work tank 2 or 4 times a year. It sits on a board platform which is what I use to carry it. Easier to grab and less stress on the silicone joints.

That 25 gallon tank will likely weigh more than 60lbs when drained down to 20%.

My classroom tank will need to come home once per year for the long summer holidays. It will get a transport board this summer to make it easier to move around

g there must be some way to stop the aquarium sliding on the board? Otherwise it sounds pretty dangerous. Unless I've totally misunderstood
