I've just spotted these latest Hygger luminaire lights.

All the bumf seems to claim that they only have RGB LEDs (all 5054 type). Very reasonable prices. Is this a complete bargain for a genuine RGB light ? Or is there a catch ?? THis is way off my areas of expertise.

Seems like a nice light.

This is overview of the LEDs

They’re decent lights for the money. I have a Hygger HG089, which is the same light as this one without the integrated Bluetooth/app control. It grew plants well enough but I hated the button control so I wired a 3 channel generic LED Bluetooth controller inline and it works flawlessly as an app controlled light. Full spectrum control, timer, etc.

I run a Week Aqua L900 now and wouldn’t go back, but it’s a decent light for the price.

I’m not sure what the extension range is on them but I think the 40W (at 28.75 inches) would probably fit. I’ve always tried to match the width of the tank though. Once you balance the light output and mounting height, you shouldn't have issues with a light matched to the tank size.

For what it’s worth, if I’m considering spending $100-120 for a Hygger of that size, I’d just spend the extra 50-60 and get the appropriately sized Week Aqua M-series and be done with it. The hygger would be a much more appealing alternative for a nano tank like the 30cm mentioned.

I was also thinking this. Comparing 90cm (Hygger 50w) to 90cm light, The Week Aqua m900 is only $30 more and has 20w more power plus likely provides a far wider color range.

Sadly, the price difference in the UK is larger (as there is no supplier here for many of the models).

For a 60cm tank, the Hygger would cost me around £62, the equivalent Weekaqua M600 would cost around £117, for similar types of LEDs but with 30% more wattage (which I wouldn't need). Its always good to have the choice though !

Out of the box, I'm not impressed.

The protective plastic on the light ends under the cover can't easily be removed cleanly.

The bracket doesn't sit flush on one point. The entire fixture can wobble.

I've not been able to pair the light with the app over Bluetooth. I'll try again later. The app "Tuya" is an off-the-shelf IoT controller that appears a plug in solution for a manufacturer to supply an app and AI control.

did you try with your gps/location on?

I did get it to pair. One needs to reset the Bluetooth on the light. This is accomplished by unplugging the light for 10 seconds 3 times until it flashes.

It helps to put your right foot in and shake it all about. Add in a jump to the left and you’ve got a reset light, along with a new dance.
