I see George is listed as a member but not sure if he watches the forum. If you saw his last video, you know he took down all his Oase tanks and announced he was moving on to a new chapter. Fluval posted a video today showing us all what that new chapter was, as George was introduced as a new brand ambassador 😲 .

That's like a player going from the Yankees to the Red Sox, the Packers to the Bears, or for all you soccer fans, Real Madrid to Barcelona.

I gotta admit, when I was researching products to build my first scape, a few video reviews including George's are what helped convince me to go with Oase. I don't think he'll be able to convince me to switch to Fluval though. I'm happy where I'm at.

Edit to say: I guess the video was posted a couple days ago and I just saw it today. I'm slow.

I will miss his home tanks, particularly his Highline 400:

This tank is incredible IMO. No stems, no aggressive runners, just crypts, anubias, and echinodorus swords:

Full of color, texture, and most importantly (in his own words) REQUIRES BASICALLY NO MAINTENANCE.

Social media f*cks us up with expectations of our aquascapes. Showcase tanks, especially competition scapes, and even dutch tanks, all require so much maintenance, trimming, etc. If it's your job, sure, why not have demanding tanks. But at-home tanks are what 99% of us keep. We need it simple/easy to be enjoyable!

This tank of George's is probably the most stunning, impressive example of a tank that requires little to no maintenance. To me, THIS is an at-home aquascape that I'd like to keep someday. Just a beauty, such a shame to see it go! I hope he does a similar scape in his new Fluval-sponsored chapter.

I hope this means that Fluval is going to start distributing some Oase-quality aquariums in the States
🤔🤔

Interestingly enough, one of the many aquariums I have waiting to be scaped, is a 55g low iron rimless Fluval tank. No mitered edges but otherwise, just as nice as my Waterbox tanks.

Story goes; Fluval had a bunch built to use for aquascaping competitions and what wasn't used, they distributed to regional stores that, I guess, were highly rated sellers of Fluval products. One such store in Lawrence Kansas where I buy most of my fish (best selection near Kansas City) had a few on display and had been there for months gradually getting priced lower and lower. Thing is, while this is one of, if not the best LFS in the KC area, it's also a full range pet store and people generally aren't buying the higher dollar aquascaping gear. When the price was down to $350 I asked the fish department manager about it because at the time, the logos were covered up by cartons they were in and I didn't know it was Fluval. He told me they were probably going to drop the price down to $250 in a couple weeks because they needed to move them off the floor. I told him I would take one for that right then if he would also give me a deal on the nice drift wood stump on display in one of them. DONE! Now it's been collecting dust in my basement for months. 😊

Couldn't agree more. To be honest now that i have come pretty close to what I had envisioned in my tank, the maintenance has been a pain. One gets at a best 1 week of perfect tank before you have to restart the cycle with stems. I have been eyeing this tank by George for a while and wanted to build something similar for much longer view time and shorter maintenance. Maybe my next tank needs to be "lean dosing + lean maintenance".

My 7 gallon nano with dwarf sag, anubias, and Bucephalandra, is honestly my favorite tank right now. Looks great, super easy maintenance. super low algae. I definitely want to do it on a larger scale.
