New update: One step forward two steps back.

Had a major set back in my farm tank recovery, I'm fairly certain it was a combination of factors that came together at the same time which caused a major melt back on a variety of plants. Pretty much lost all the hygrophila araguaia, it was by far the biggest causality, whatever the cause this plant did not appreciate it AT ALL. Several buces shed the leaves, crossing my fingers they will recover. Lagenandra meeboldii hit pretty hard, it was so big I think it may survive, gratiola viscidula nearly wiped out but have a couple stems showing signs of new growth.

On a more positive note I replaced the pogostemon helferi, and just receieved order some new plants: bolbitis heudelotii, pogostemon deccanensis, crypt pink flamingo, monte Carlo, eriocaulon feather duster, and a few sword species

Other changes & considerations for the 40 gallon maiden scape:

So because I lose so much water to evaporation I will need to keep a cover on this tank. I'm not really in a position for a ATO system at the moment. I've been thinking about to how I should go about my filter intake/ return pipe placement with a glass lid. The hardscape & substrate will be sloping/ terraced up toward the rear right corner of the tank and I'm trying to consider water flow/ circulation and what might be my best options. Side placement doesn't really seem like an option with a glass lid on the tank so the intake and return would need to be located along the back glass of the tank. Here are a few options I have been considering, I would def appreciate input from those with more experience. I saw the AiO lily set from ARC. Seems like it might work but I'm unsure how effective the skimmer would be and how the circulation would actually work out in my layout. It looks as if the outflow be directly across the back glass, circular back to front around the tank which doesn't seem ideal for this setup, as there be a lot of plant mass along the back glass which would disrupt the circulation. Option 2: get a lily pipe set with the 2 piece lily pipe, hanging everything on the rear left side of the tank and angle the lily pipe to the right side of the tank. With this solution the angle could be adjusted but may result in strange or uneven circulation, I would definitely need to experiment with it. Final option, which I feel like may be my best solution is to use the normal intake but use a spray bar for the return creating a nice even flow from left to right across the tank and good overall circulation. Because this is a rimmed tank i think the spray bar will not be very noticeable, and i can adjust the angle for more or less surface agitation.

For Co2 delivery I've been having 2nd thoughts about using an inline diffuser and am seriously considering doing the yugang reactor . Its not so much about the bubbles, but being more efficient with the Co2 and having more consistent Co2 distribution, getting rid of the bubbles would just be a bonus. For those of you with experience with the Oase Biomaster, specifically the 600, do you think this filter will be sufficient to provide a decent flow for 40 gallon breeder tank? How would it perform if paired with a yugang reactor ? I saw a post this morning where @Naturescapes_Rocco mentioned having the 850 filter head on a 600 canister. Would this be a better option or would it be too much flow? Freaking brilliant idea if its just a simple swap because thats only like $116 bucks vs a whole new filter. I may order one just to have on hand for any future plans or if I need a temporary swap to keep things running if something goes down with the filter.

Also finally uploading a picture of the hardscape layout, please ignore the lines on the glass, this is my first aquascape and I taped out the the thirds, Fibonacci spiral etc for my tank dimentions so i'd have a reference point, was kinda hard for me to visualize. I may rough up the rounded edges on the 2 larger pieces of driftwood.
