I need something to put on the rim of my tank that will hold my Python down in the water while I start the siphon.

@Naturescapes_Rocco has posted something similar that holds his tubing onto the side of his tank, but I need something that's not permanent. I could use his design, but I think I'd be wasting a zip tie every time. If you look in he first pic, when I put my Python in (avoiding innuendo here) the end is out of the water, so I can't start a siphon. I've put the tube under the light support, but that's not good. Sometimes I come back to my light in the water or laying on the side of the tank



I need something that will hold it down like this while I start the siphon.

What about weighing down the end of the tube so it stays underwater when you start the siphon? Or, a valved Tee fitting just on the other side of the glass to get the siphon filled with water, so it stays underwater, before you turn it on?

I'm trying to think of what will stick to the end and not be permanent. I might could put a fishing weight around a thick rubber band and that would work. I don't think I would need much weight.

Or switch to a pump and use a baster to upwell the mulm to it? Ive been doing it that way for years and will never go back to that big fat cylinder that doesnt fit anywhere and its lovely slow siphon.. I know Dennis Wong wrote an article on this a bit back or you can see it in my videos.

Or switch to a pump and use a baster to upwell the mulm to it? Ive been doing it that way for years and will never go back to that big fat cylinder that doesnt fit anywhere and its lovely slow siphon.. I know Dennis Wong wrote an article on this a bit back or you can see it in my videos.

The never ending struggle to get enough suction to get up the stuff but not so much as to pull your substrate up too much.

Yeah, because of remodeling I have an extra extension on my Python and its excruciatingly slow. I don't think a pump would work for me though because it's only a 60p, so if I increase the rate too much, the water is out before I've covered much of the tank. You don't have a problem with a pump and how lightweight aquasoil is?

That's the answer there. That's what I was hoping someone could 3D print for me. However..... I think we have some of those clamps @gnatster posted in the garage. That would be easiest then.

No issues. i use it on my 60s, my 45, my shallow, my 90 and my 120. The screen on the pump intake stops plants, shrimp, soil and lets mulm through. No better solution exists.

In need to look at your video. You blast the substrate with the baster and the gunk goes up into the water column. Then you suck it out I suspect. That might work for me.

Comes with a holder and a suction bulb. Works good. Need to look into what @Jeff Miotke uses.
