If you run hours and hours of blue moonlight, yes that can provide energy for algae growth yet is insufficient for plant growth.
Best bet, run your light at a suitable intensity for around 8 hours and dont run moonlight for hours…
But not running blue channel is just plain silly. If you are running white lights you have plenty of blue spectrum light in that mix…
As an aside, other than the app utility I think the fluval 3.0 is incredibly over rated…the color rendering is horrid. The red is pink and weak, the blue is an incredibly wierd blue.. true white pure white are incredibly weak. All power comes from warm white which has lots of yellow in it. The beam angle is quite narrow and low to waterline yielding lots of shadows and dark areas in the tank…. The contrast in looking at plants is awful…
But by golly there are lots of youtube presenters that think its the Bees Knees of aquarium lighting….
