Aponogeton madagasgariensis.

This is supposed to be a relatively easy plant. I've never done well with it for more than a few months. I've had other Aponogetons with annoyingly robust health and growth. Maybe the bulb needs a rest period. I dunno.

Well, what a difference a few months makes. The thing is an absolute monster lately. Most of this growth happened explosively during a period of 3-4 weeks. Me likes it. What an underrated plant:

It is an inherient property that most apogoneton require a rest period - i believe cripus is an exception but most of them will die back 100% - some require removal from water during the rest period but it is species specific. Btw there are several different species of the lace plant with different requirements. Most are sold under the same name madagasgariensis but a few of the better stores will name the actual specific species.

also someone once wrote an entire paragraph about how my lightly tip-stunted ammania pedicellata "golden" showed such a lack of skill that the entire tank did not merit praise
That is harsh.

I feel like I’m always constantly chasing the root cause of the new growth curling on my Ludwigia palustris super red. Symptoms started to re-emerge again this week. Everything else in the tank is doing well. I’ve been able to stop it before, but I’ll be damned if I can’t nail down exactly what solved the growth issues.

Normally, I don't chase deficiency / toxicity issues as the real issue is something else. However, if you are consistent with CO2 and are adding a complete fertilizer regimen, then I would probably test increasing calcium to see if that correct the leaf curling.

If you decide to try this, I would increase calcium and hold it steady for a month or more to see if there is any improvement in new growth.

Every alternathera reinekii types. I have the mini and the kleines papageienblatt, both are magnet for hair algae, BBA or GSA.
