There is this one plant, that is in my opinion gorgeous, but it has many names
I bought this plant right when I started this hobby 3 years ago, and it was growing beautifully. Then after 2 years and many changes in my aquarium I decided to grow this plant again, but this time it was struggling a lot. Growing very very very slowly, constantly on the edge of succumbing to algae. At one point it basically stopped growing entirely, so eventually I removed it from the aquarium. After some time I bought a new pot and tried again. Then again. Same result, it was growing very slowly and eventually it stunted entirely.
I was wondering this whole time (months, maybe even years) what is in my water that this plant doesnt like - co2/nutrients, lights, aquasoil, filtration etc etc. But nothing helped. Then one time I decided to instead of buying a pot from local vendor to buy an invitro cup from dennerle. This was ±2months ago, it was a liiiitle bit better, but still, very very slow growth.
Then I remembered that the first (and only) time I had success with this plant was from an invitro cup, but from Tropica. So I decided to give this one last chance, I just love this plant so much and am sad that I cant grow it anymore, but I have spent too much money and effort, so I started to accept that its just what it is. So I bought one last cup, this time Tropica. To my surprise, the plant is starting to establish and grow, today after 3 weeks I can even see that the plant is closing its leaves as the lights are turning off.
This is the Dennerle cup I have bought 2.5 months ago

This is the Tropica cup I have bought 3 weeks ago:

This is how they look like in my tank - blue is Tropica, red is Dennerle

Another picture of the tropica plant, its finally growing !!!

After just 3 weeks the tropica plant is in much better shape than the dennerle one that was in the tank for 3 months.
My aim is not to promote a specific brand, I just wanted to share my experience. I am wondering if anybody else had a similar experience and perhaps an explanation?
I am also inclined to repeat this experiment with plants that I have bought from the local vendor and didnt have success with over the years - Bacopa Purple, Rotala Wallichii, Staurogyne Repens and many many more.
- Rotala Bonsai
- Rotala Indica sp. Bonsai
- Ammania Bonsai
