I'm very excited to announce that we will shortly be debuting a new feature on ScapeCrunch. It's called ScapeBid and it's an online auction feature specifically for aquarium plants and hobby-related items.

Why are we implementing an auction feature?

Part of our mission is to foster the interaction between the planted aquarium community. Providing a platform for the "easy" exchange of hobby-related items furthers this mission. We hope that the auction mechanism presents a fun, exciting way of exchanging items between us in a safe and trusted way.

The auction is also intended to encourage commercial interests, especially the small businesses that focus on serving the planted aquarium hobby, to find a trusted market for their goods. Our mission of growing the planted aquarium hobby depends on showing businesses that it is a profitable market that they should invest in.

How is ScapeBid different than Facebook Auctions, eBay, Reddit Auctions, Aquabid, etc.?

We are different from those larger places because we focus exclusively on the planted aquarium hobby and we are run by and for hobbyists. Our market is exclusively our growing community. We're small but we're focused and powerful.

At the end of the day, we hope to be an "and" instead of an "or". You can always sell your cuttings or equipment in any of those larger places. We hope you ALSO list some of your items here on ScapeBid. By doing so, you are supporting our charitable mission of growing the hobby and your fellow community members here.

What should we auction on ScapeBid?

Please consider auctioning off your cuttings, extra plants, used equipment, you name it. Availability of plants is always an issue in our hobby. Be a friend and don't throw away your plants. Give them a good home with someone else who needs them.

The process is super easy and it's completely free.

Please stay tuned for more information. ScapeBid should be launched this upcoming week so please start thinking about what you can auction off to your fellow hobbyists here at ScapeCrunch.

Please post any questions, comments, feedback, smart remarks here. Thank you!
