Using slate in hardscape

Slate is commonly sold as aquascaping stone but I think I've only seen it used in one scape were it was built up as jagged mountain cliffs. That is typically the plain flat slate, similar to what is used to secure driftwood to to prevent floating. Haven't seen much with the character that yours has.

I'm finding all this shimmery textured slate, quite interesting
