Using slate in hardscape

I've been collecting interesting slate from a stream bed. Has anyone used slate in their hardscape? I haven't really seen it used, and was wondering if it would be a good choice.

I’ve used slate, but not anything I collected myself. It should be fine though.

Slate is commonly sold as aquascaping stone but I think I've only seen it used in one scape were it was built up as jagged mountain cliffs. That is typically the plain flat slate, similar to what is used to secure driftwood to to prevent floating. Haven't seen much with the character that yours has.

I'm finding all this shimmery textured slate, quite interesting
