Show me your 4-6 gallon planted tanks!

I will be starting a new tank in the next month or so. It will be an 8 gallon AIO which will have a 5.5 gallon display area. I need some inspiration and aquascaping ideas for utilizing such a small space.

This will be my first planted tank and first freshwater tank in 35 years. I currently have saltwater tanks, but am looking for the diversity. This tank will be low tech to see if the freshwater interest me long term. The tank will likely home shrimp and a group of tetras or rasboras.

This is a picture of my desk top reef tank. This will be the same type aquarium that I will be using for my planted tank.

Check out my journal The Chronicles of Nano. 7 gallon UNS 30C. I inject CO2 but it isn't absolutely necessary, however, the AR Mini might not reach it's full potential.

Mosses and wood, low tech tank.
Glue rock on plate form,
glue wood on rock,
glue moss on wood.

Let mature for a couple of months then added shrimp

Plants are Rotala H'Ra, Pogostemon deccanensis, AR Mini, Staurogyne repens, and in the foreground is Monte Carlo.

Could you point out where the P.deccanensis is ? looked like Rotala sp.green next to the H'Ra to me.

This was a very low energy 4.5 gallon tank I kept for a few years:

I don't keep my tanks so dark these days, but it was very little trouble and a lot of fun to watch.

Could you point out where the P.deccanensis is ? looked like Rotala sp.green next to the H'Ra to me.

It's P. deccanensis!


These photos show it a little better.

Rotala sp. Green has much thicker, rotala-like leaves. P. deccanensis has fine feather-like leaves.

To keep it small and compact like this I dosed very lean and trimmed aggressively frequently.

Looks great. Is there any co2 injection?

It had a small DIY open flow reactor which just raised the CO2 to 9-10 ppm.
