Hi,

A critical component of a growing and thriving planted aquarium community is the "easy" exchange of plants and related equipment. A marketplace is needed that facilitates people selling or trading items in as safe a way as possible.

With this in mind, we will be "upgrading" our sales forum to more of a marketplace feature. Hopefully, this will make it more prominent and will encourage more items being sold or traded amongst ourselves.

Some of the features:
  • Prominent and easy-to-find position in the main navigation bar - removes it from the other forums so posts are not buried by all of the other conversations taking place.
  • Separate categories for plants, fish, shrimp, and equipment - makes listings easier to find.
  • Front-page sidebar widget - will announce the latest items up for sale.
  • Individual ratings - like on eBay, you will be able to rate a transaction as positive, neutral or negative with transactions listed over 1, 6 and 12 months. This will help give people confidence when purchasing.
N.B., the marketplace will be free to use by all members. Payment transactions will be handled by the parties to the transaction.

More information is coming soon but I wanted to give everyone a heads up. Happy to hear any feedback or recommendations.

All the best,

Art

The Marketplace section is now live. Please report any bugs you see.

My ask:

Please consider using the Marketplace section to mail out your plant cuttings and to sell any items you are upgrading and no longer need. The more we commit to helping each other with item availability, the more useful this section will be to everyone.

My hope is that, one day soon, it will be easy to get plant X from a fellow hobbyist that lives across the country or even the world. Let's make this a reality, together.

Thank you!
