Request for feed back on new light to try

I'm looking for a new light for either 90cm or 120cm (36 or 48); has any one directly compared the netlea at5s gen 3 vs week aqua l version 3 vs week aqua m M ?

I am well aware the week aqua m is lower power then the L but not sure if it has another look - none of these lights would be run above 50% so the weaker output is not an issue but am concern about the width coverage as my test auqarium will either be 18 inch wide (standard 40b) or 16 inch wide (custom 48x16).

I want to test if the spectrum has an impact on plant growth in my blackwater (very low mineral) environment and impact on colours on fishes like these:

The 40b currently has a chiros b light rather weak and the 65 has a plant 3.0. The chrios b obviously does a poor job of lighting the front.

I can't speak to the Netlea, but I do have both L and M series Week Aqua lights. Power output is the only difference. Color rendition/adjustability and spread is the same.

On paper the L i suppose to handle a wider aquarium - one thing i learned is the netlea bracket won't fit or rest comfortably on a 40b and you either need a 3rd party adapter or hang it - and i'm not in the mood to hang it. The spectrum on paper looks a little more interesting but i'll probably go with the week L (week m is fine i think but it is not in stock anywhere - 900cm model). Hum. Not sure will see if anyone else responds. Not sure i love the week spectrum visibly as it lacks those middle colour - i ran into problem with the wrgb II looking awful since it lacks yellow/white.

Well, we all see colors a bit differently. I happen to really like the color rendition of the Chihiros but both it and the Week Aqua give you plenty of control to tune it how you like. If you want to save money and don't mind the longer shipping time, many of us purchase Week Aqua lights on AliExpress which has all models available at a little lower price than what you'll find from U.S. distributers (although if its in stock at Aqua Rocks Colorado, I'd be willing to pay a little more). Hers's one of the sellers I've ordered from, but if you search Week Aqua M or L series you'll see all the different combinations and mounting options, many which include the shades at a lower price than buying them separately.

Which chihiros do you have - after all all models are not the same. The problem with aliexpress is no warranty.

I think i will go with the netlea at5 model IF it will fit on a rimmed aqueon 40b. I'm reading mix things with regards to the legs.

As for rendering the lack of a white or yellow diode on the weak model make me sceptical on the rendering.

Yea i started with that article before i made this post. For me the wrgb II ruins every photo i've ever taken and I'm not as offended by the fluval 3.0 as others but yes it does have too much yellow and for plant growing someone posted a nice explanation that the reds are too weak compare to the blues making it difficult to utilize full power.

I have some pictures comparing plant 3.0 to ai blade and a few non compartitive pictures of the wrgb ii but - here are a few pictures ignore the composition and just focus on colour tones:



hygger 957 at 50% - i think it is a little cool and you can see a bit of blue at the bottom but otherwise decent.

chirios B at near full (70%?) same substrate as in the previous tank so you can see it is a bit warm at the bottom but otherwise ok.

The two above are ai freshwater blade just a touch cool i think but not as bad as the hygger - i think it is decent but a bit over priced. This tank suffers from a bit of algae because the moss someone sent me took nearly a year to adapt to my extreme growing condition (very very soft and acidic). The moss has just started to outgrow the algae.

Plant 3.0 a bit yellow but i can't say it is much worse then chiros b 'cept it is more yellow and the chiros is more orangey yellow.
