I am considering purchasing a chihiros light and have a few questions about their app.

Is the app generally thought of as being user friendly?

How many lighting points does it allow? With Aquaillumination lights I can have 10 or more light setting points in which the light will fade from one setting to the next during the time period between them. I can only seem to see where with the my chihiros app you can control one light setting and then have a ramp up and ramp down period. Is this it?

I think it's very user friendly. Like many poor quality chinese apps, if the app has an issue or starts working, just force close and re-open and it's fixed.

I've used the app for dosing and light control for a few years without any major issues. Not sure on light points, but it's very adjustable. I'm sure you could do at least 4-8, which is far more than most planted tanks even need. I just have my tanks on a 30-minute ramp up, 30-minute ramp down schedule.

I've been using it for over a year now, and it works fine for me. I know some people say it isn't great, but idk, it does everything I need it to do.

The ONLY frustrating thing about it (which I suspect other light apps are similar) is that you cannot change the levels of a light setting without turning that setting on. I hate that if I want to just tweak the numbers, I need to blast my poor fish & shrimp with light first. So I try to do it only when the light is already on.

The app has it's occasional quirks. On a rear occasion, it decides it doesn't see my devices. Is it the app or the device? I don't know, but a reset gets it back on track. The lights also have a difficult time navigating daylight savings spring forward and fall back, but that's more the devices themselves. Connecting to each device the morning of the changeover gets them back on correct time. The app is better than the Week Aqua app.

To throw another spanner in the works you can get a Netlea or Week Aqua for much less than an equivalent chihiros. I swapped my AI for a Netlea AT5S the color is much better and it was cheaper. The app is a pain at first but once its setup its very intuitive, i actually like it more than the AI app. I use andriod which also made it worse but the apple app is in the store just get the v2. Aquarocks ships fast and I got both Netlea in 3 days. As for the Chihiros app its better than the AI app by a mile as I have that as well.
