Got on the tree build kick in past 2 weeks to make somthing I like for 36g freebie build to replace the huge tree turd #2 in there. I got 6 stumps ready today to get built for smaller tanks, 3 done today 3 waiting. Built the larger 17 tall 16 wide tree pics added other day to journal but gonna a build 2-3 more larger trees and the 6 smaller. Sell the ones off on eBay and etsy I don't want.
The larger stump 2nd post pic s 16" tall 15 wide plan to use in future scapes smaller. I've been using Amazon branch packs 15.00 for 25-35 pieces and amazon spiderwood 6-8" 5 for 12.00 for small trees. The large tree I made was a 10.99 piece I tore apart and used the 3 larger branches and built onto them to get the large tree in added pics cost me in end around 22.00 .... I have 10 pieces coming in mail Friday 5 large and 5 medium all spiderwood to make larger trees with this weekend.
Bought a ton of Amazon wood on Amazon lol 2 for 17.00 10-14" so I glued some of them together for larger usable pieces. some came out cool and well worth the 17.00 for the pieces glued together. The 1 has natural plant pots on top. The v shape last 2 pics 12" deep and 16" wide
After literally glueing a finger to a rock today Imao I quit! I ended up used all the accelerator I had anyway so Friday or sat before I can finish my smaller trees. will update as it goes, It will be a forest of trees when its done.

Save the fingers! Saw a bit pop on instagram from aquashella featuring @Jeff Miotke using zip ties, a drill and some finishing nails. No glue required.

saw that post but cant nail 1/8" limbs to pencils lol ive started drilling holes for small limbs and twigs and glueing way stronger than surface glueing tiny limbs. using the nails In larger pieces is good idea though! I always used ss screws after drilling holes but the wood does swell when wet making a nice tight bond I'm sure.

These look nice. You mentioned sourcing some of the wood on Amazon. When I looked, I found many, many vendors with listings. With which vendors have you had positive experiences in terms of quality of wood and accuracy of size descriptions?
* ill post pics of what I get from those branch sellers in few days waiting on order from both now. So you see an example of what I'm getting!*

Ill send some links of the few that are good for the smaller branches, larger branches are hard to find online I end up cutting spiderwood pieces for larger 1"+ size. for the small spider wood pieces there kinda hit and miss they say 7-9" and there 6-8" at most. the buse plants spider wood was much better deal I the end even with shipping cheaper than Amazon.
If u have a local store with spider wood pieces try and find a tree bar and limb look, I got lucky and found a nice 11.00 piece with 3 larger branches and a base it was uns wood, that's what I made the largest 17" tall tree from.

this is best for large bag of tiny to small branches its a ton for the money , def enough to do few tree limbs once u get a base piece. Amazon.com : JZCHBL 200g Natural Driftwood for Aquarium 7''-16'' Reptile Branches Terrarium Wood Long Driftwood for Aquarium Assorted Shapes Natural Decor Azalea Rhododendron Root : Pet Supplies

this item you get some larger limbs but sometimes its 10 limbs sometimes its 25, I've bought several of these and send 1 back but there still best so far Amazon.com

For small pieces for small trees these sellers are goodish, I again buy 2-3 of them and return what's crap.

I know you've already got quite a few pieces from Amazon, but I highly recommend checking out the driftwood options from Pet World in Lawrence KS. They ship.
Pet World Online Store
I did ! I searched for awhile and bought a lot! petworld spider wood pieces 3lbs medium is 70.00....5 lbs large is 115.00 shipped. You get a lot of oddball pieces not really usable for trees unless cut to death. im looking at cutting a few pieces already to be usable. The uns large spider wood on slate is more tree like bigger taller pieces way easier to make into trees than the weirdo shape non slate wood.I got 6 piece uns without slate its ok for scapes but not great for tree/branch with base look.

I bought 5 medium without slate and 5 larger on slate from buce they sent me 6 of each 12 total so cant complain. I've bought probably 40 pieces of spiderwood in smaller 6" to 16" sizes online. Small pieces 6"-9" are usually a few branches but that's what I use for the small 10x10 trees so far. the larger medium are usually a ball of mess lol. The uns large on slate u get fatter taller pieces not all crazy root ball going every way look.
I learned that spiderwood is azalea plant root, there's 10million azaleas here plan to get my own free wood next year. Know a few guys who do landscaping and throw them away all the time. Sounds like free money to me!

I'll provide some feedback to them in the store. In the store and at Aquashella, they display quite a few larger "tree" like pieces on slate, so I'm not sure why they aren't online.

Thanks! Yet I wonder what a 18" price in slate sells for there? I may call them myself. The slate pieces are always nice the others are meh you get lucky 20% of the time. If I went to aquashella I would be broke lol

Well im treed out lol taking a week off from trees have 13 total! going huge next tree 20" tall or more. Last medium larger tree 19 wide 12.5 tall on lava rock and rock under the for weight. This 1 a keeper for now real tree look not that crap I made before lol.

Got the package from this seller https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DT4XMJ3L?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 16.99 shipped, it went back only about 15 sticks. sometimes its 35 so hit and miss for me. bought 4 sent 2 back, 1 bag huge 1 bag tiny.
got this pack today was great its 15,99 and u get 3x more its enough to do 5-6 small 10-12" trees with a base wood. Amazon.com : JZCHBL 200g Natural Driftwood for Aquarium 7''-16'' Reptile Branches Terrarium Wood Long Driftwood for Aquarium Assorted Shapes Natural Decor Azalea Rhododendron Root : Pet Supplies

heres pic of that 15.99 bag today well worth the money! have bought 3 from them so far, some bags tiny roots to medium some medium to larger , Usually never over 3/4" wide limbs, Larger limbs cost way more better getting some uns spider wood for 12-15 each and use as a large tree bass and add on the limbs.. Really best to buy 2 and get a storm of limbs. I have gone way overboard with roots and limbs on first 10 trees but less looks better more little branches more realistic and less fantasy tree look. There's ton of videos on tube with guys making trees with nice fat wood for roots, I cant find that online unless I buy spider wood pieces 6-10 and cut them all up as roots and limbs. That's what I did with some of the uns haul I got large limbs cut off for 1 larger trees. im no tree expert for sure I only like 3 of the trees outta 13 total lol
