@Koan, I normally avoid pipe dope because it is messy and most not for extreme high pressure application. The reatorseal no.5 is for common household application, work on low pressure side of the co2 regulator and can be temporary fix on the the high side but not long term solution.
The real high pressure rated pipe dope are extremely sticky, such as swagelok threads sealant, once apply, it is next to impossible to clean especially on the female threads, but you can use the same type of dope again on the same threads after some cleaning. I guess Kwyet found the solution because the sealant dope from GLA is on the way.
On high pressure side of the regulator inlet threads, high density sealant tape and occasionally loctite red 500 series sealant are my solution.
On stainless steel threads connection, nothing works better than high density teflon tape, to avoid galling.
