Gregg, I thought you were told to stop showing off 🤔
LOL that is not the way I intend it and I hope it doesn't come off that way. I actually take a lot more pictures than I post and try to show some restraint.

When you get the bug real bad then you sit and stare at those pics to see where you can improve. And rarely do I actually plan to take a pic, it's usually I just walk by the tank and it catches my eye and I want to preserve it. Of course then I look back later and see the weak points and the whole process starts all over again. Yes I am a sick man!! :D

More pics from everyone please! It is spring time and I have the inspiration bug bad.. need to see lots and lots of healthy plants!

You know, I think what really does it for this tank is not just the color pop, but the never ending variety of textures that really doesn’t let your eyes just focus on one part of the tank. It makes you bounce around to appreciate each individual plant, there is no monotony and nothing that looks out of place. Just really pleasing to the eyes overall.

Thank you for the kind words and I have to say I take that as a real compliment. Your description means I am achieving many of my goals!!

Hi - would everyone having the image issue in @GreggZ's post please check again? I am now seeing them.

Thanks.

Fantastic photos!

I am currently running into the genetics game.... Seems like what I thought was a high quality young fish just waste away and die with zero cause (similar to the praecox rainbow situation)... While others are continue to grow and show more health / color.

Really nice to see yours as adults and doing very well! nice work.

Hey Quag I have had that happen over the years. Usually is confined within one species, and no rhyme or reason to it. Like you said, might just be poor genetics. The Praecox are a great example.

The ones in the pics above are about 4 to 7 years old. So fully mature and at peak colors. People need to plan ahead as those little babies you buy will get pretty large as they age. That G. Dorityi in the first pic is almost 6" and very tall. I only have 12 mature Rainbows in the tank and then 7 babies growing out. If I get any more crowded it just seems too busy and makes it hard to get good full tank shots, as the Bows cover too many plants.

I usually run about 130 PAR for 6 hours, and 200+ PAR for 2 hours. When I want to turn up the color I run full lights for three or four days in a row for 8 hours. No question it makes a difference. You can see the color changing day by day.
@GreggZ I have been experimenting with lower light for three months, I liked it, but have decided to go higher light again and follow your example. I am going to boost my light for a couple of hours per day, and see what happens.

I like a slightly warmer appearance of the tank, and am not a fan of my blue LED's at full power. However I read that the blue part of the spectrum may promote a more compact plant growth - not sure if this has been scientifically verified.

When you boost your light to 200 PAR for 2 hours, is that at the same spectrum as you use for the rest of the day, or do you think that some spectrum adjustments during your boost may make sense for plant morphology?
