Feeding Corys

What do you all recommend feeding Corydoras that doesn’t result in accumulating in the substrate ? I just have 4 of them, and when I place even 1/2 of a sinking wafer they rarely finish it. I also have small pellets but these typically float and I have to push it with a pipette to sink, otherwise my CPDs get them. This is kind of messy since these either disintegrate soon or I think accumalates in the substrate. Any other options?

They often sell these with a glass tube to ensure the food lands on the dish, keeping the food from making a mess.

I have been having pretty good luck with the Northfin Bug Pro. My biggest issue is I have food bullies masquerading as White Clouds. If I use wafers, the Minnows play soccer with them and scare the corys off before they can get close to them. As the bug pro is small, I can spread it around a bit so they can actually get some, and they happily rummage around the sand for it. It also doesn't disintegrate before they can find it.

In addition to freshly hatched brine shrimp, mine really enjoy a salmon and spirulina sinking gel food that is easy to make. It keeps well in freezer and tends to trigger a feeding frenzy in many species. Here is the article that turned me onto making gel foods. I've been using it successfully for years.

Thanks I had been looking into the Repashy gel. Wonder whether these sort of gel type food, causes same mess as wafers or not

Gel food breaks down slowly, so if you can keep track of where it is in the tank then you can remove it easily after a few hours, if there is any left. If you leave it, then it’ll start breaking down and making a mess. You can cut it into the size you want, but I use this to make small pellets. They’ll keep in the freezer for a long time.

My cories really love the Bug Bites cichlid formula for small to medium fish. It sinks and I usually add some in the evening when the lights are off so the white clouds don't get it. That said, I have shrimp too, so there are never any leftovers.

Have you tried feeding frozen brine shrimp/blood worms?

The frozen brine shrimp never touched the substrate, all gotten by the CPD. It was also a little messy and planning to avoid it. Will have to try blood worms at some point. Thx
