It is true that plants grow slower in cold water, and that's a good thing from a maintenance standpoint! Sometimes I wish my plants were growing slower... it's a lot fo work to trim them all every two weeks. I'll think about such a way of keeping the tank. thank you!
I have kept all sorts of aquascaped tanks over the years. Do have a love hate relationship with stems. I say I'm done but keep coming back. This is exactly why. So very much work then to add multiple tanks. If you see a nice stem tank and the person says they dont do much to it they're lying. This big tank of mine ran out of CO2 about a year ago. I said eff it and never went back due to the costs, 10lb bottle every 3 to 4 weeks. Anyway now that there is no CO2 and the cool waters its actually quite enjoyable. Not a pain or choore as before.
I am lucky to have almost RO water out of the tap and been folowing Sudipta Shaws techniques on Non CO2 Tanks. Im now at the point where going to start adding more and more species to this tank.
Im glad I inspred your curiousity. Gained a lot of knowledge from all your posts everywhere / all over the fourms.

Absolutely, you made me remember that when I was a kid, I used to go with my dad to catch fish and get plants from natural streams in northern Italy. Of course, I had to have cold water for the fish to thrive, and the plants were ok for a while but then eventually died. At that time, back in the early 80s', nobody knew how to grow plants in water, and I thought that fish poop was sufficient. Eventually, I understood that even just a simple water change once a month could make a great difference in plant growth and thriving... but then, 10-15 years later, I started growing tropical plants, and I got addicted to high temperatures, high light, and all the rest... forgetting about colder temperature and how much easier was to maintain such tanks. Now you are giving me hope to get back to enjoy simpler tanks without sacrificing "good-looking" scapes. Your tank is really beautiful, and if you hadn't been telling me, I would have never thought that it was a cold water tank.

As I get older, it's hard to keep up with high-tech tank routines. So I think I'll start moving toward that kind of tank in the coming months...

Thank you!

What are Sudipta Shaws non co2 techniques, may I ask?
Your in BC? I'm only a few hours away on the US side
