Hey all,

Thought I would share this little project as it turned out to be pretty simple and streamlines my aquarium interface. It’s not up and running yet but I’m setting up a 243L (64gal) soon.
I have the chihiros WRGB II set up in the app and planning on getting the auto dose system. Then I realised there’s CO2 control in the app…..

Quick google and turns out the chihiros CO2 regulator is discontinued and I already have a new Aqualabs reg on the bench in wait.

This however gave me an idea….

And a couple of weeks later here’s the little box…… crushed by its long journey from somewhere in China to very far south of Australia.

I’m definitely not splicing fibre or making delicate electronics but….

Turns out usb cable just has a positive and negative wire conveniently coloured in the bundle!

Plug it in and hey presto! Shows up in the app!

I haven’t yet got the CO2 tank but it seems to control the solenoid with a satisfying click so I’m calling it a success!

Nicely done! Honestly, I think you're better off without the Chihiros regulator anyway. I have only been back in the hobby for 10 months, and while I am invested in more Chihiros products at the moment than I care to admit, I am also a little alarmed at how many products get D/C'd fairly quickly from Chihiros, maybe with the exception of their lighting. I had a Chihiros regulator, as part of the first CO2 generator kit (also DC'd) and it was absolute garbage. I have also had issues with their bluetooth controllers, and sourcing parts when needed. That said, my solenoid controller from them, so far, has been pretty flawless.
