They said just return it if there was something wrong. Of course, that would mean getting it back up the stairs

I've had a few broken glass episodes with Amazon, including my first Landen was smashed to shards 😬 you just get on the phone with them and send them pictures they don't make you ship it back 💯💯

I've ordered two Landen tanks from Amazon. A 90 the was really well packaged and a 60 that was in a thin crate and beat to hell. I requested a refund because there were literal holes punched through the thin wood. They told me to keep it and gave me a refund.

Can't wait to see what you do with this!

It’s on the stand! No leaks so far, but I’ll keep an eye on it. My daughter was able to get a couple of guys from work to come lift it for me. After they left, I realized it’s hanging over the edge of the stand in back, about 1/2 inch. I’m going to drain it after putting the substrate in, and then maybe we can slide it forward a little. The mat also wasn’t long enough, so I ordered some 3/16 inch weather stripping which I’ll slide under one edge.

It's interesting you say this because I've wondered about this photo of the Landen stand on Amazon. What's up with the mat? It's almost as if the mat normally comes with the stand and if you get the tank only, they rob the mat from the stands but forgot the sides.

I don’t know. That looks like someone cut it to cover the top of the door, which seems odd. Mine isn’t long enough lengthwise. Personally, I wish they would just send an oversized one that could be trimmed after placing the tank.

Another way I've done, to save my sanity 🙄 is just place on an oversized yoga mat, then trim all around with a long blade box knife tight to the edges of the stand 💯

You have to square the tank up to the edges of the stand by fingertip feel while you're placing it, but it works great 👍

That would be good for next time, but I don’t want to ask anyone to come back and move the tank off and on again. Thanks!

I was actually able to move it into better position by myself, using the suction cups. Those things are great!

I put the sand in today. I couldn’t get the lapis lustre easily. I chose Controsand Mojave instead. If it ends up looking too red or purple, I can top it with something else when it’s picture time. I like it though, and hopefully it’ll develop algae less readily than a lighter color.

I also got the filter running with a lot of media from one of the 125 g filters, and set up the CO2 and reactor. I had to do that twice, because apparently depending on a leak test from a month ago was a bad idea. I’ll test the CO2 tomorrow, put on the light, and start planting. 😃

This is exciting. Looking forward to continuing to follow along.

It’s a start. There’s no arrangement as yet. I just put in a lot of plants that might be used, and then there are all the ones in the original tank to draw on as well. I’ve kept adjusting the position of the reactor to get a smaller bubble, and this morning the Hanna test showed 50 ppm (the same as the first tank). I’ll test again at the end of the day, and hopefully it’ll be close to the same. It’s in overflow mode. I don’t like the lily pipes/skimmer, so I’ll be replacing them with longer pipes and a separate Eheim skimmer as soon as they come in. Today I want to make a lid. I also need to resew the moss panels from the first tank and move them to this one, when I get time and inclination. I’m ready to start thinking about fish. 🙂

It’s been bitter cold, just below 0 at night, and snowy, but not nearly as bad as I’ve been reading in another thread. We haven’t experienced any significant power outages since we moved here in 2024, so hopefully that will continue. I do have a couple of Ecoflows and a couple of large Alita air pumps as back up just in case.

Some excellent real estate with that tank, great buy! What sand or gravel is that and did you use root tabs or anything?
Thanks! That’s Mojave Controsand, without any additives. I was surprised to find that it raised my gH and kH considerably. I’m going to do some large water changes this week with plain tap water, or maybe devote a day to making RO water, to bring it back down and hope it stays down. Otherwise, some of these plants probably won’t work.
