Journal 135g High Tech Planted

Hello all. After thinking and reading. It seems it would be best to have the flow back from the sump be a spray bar?

What or flow pattern? Im thinking circular from the back to front.

Thoughts?
Probably depends how visible the spray bar would be. I use transparent acrylic, close to the water surface, and when kept free of algae it is hardly visible. It can give a good surface agitation and water movement over full tank length for gas exchange (oxygenation, CO2 stabilisation), distribution of nutrients and CO2 to plants, while avoiding local high flow areas that could be an attractive home for BBA . When the water circles back via the bottom layers, then upwards at the back, it may help keeping stem plants steady in place.

It probably also depends on the (hard-)scape in the tank? A lily pipe may work best with some scapes, and it looks great.

Tap the image icon above, then tap the box that pops up. Pic from an image in your photo library and it will let you resize from there 👍🏻 I ran into the same issue too, I used to just be able to add photos no problem but not anymore.
I clicked the image icon then clicked upload, this was on w11 pc, and it didn't give me a resize option, just said image too large.

I don't want another app on my phone, so no tapatalk lol.

Hmm or maybe i clicked attach files and not the image icon. I'll try again to make sure haha.

@Art could we get image size upped to say 1.5 or 2mb?
@Count Krunk as we grow, we need to manage the size of images being uploaded by the general community. While 1.5 - 2 mb today doesn't seem like much, it adds up quickly and increases our hosting costs/slows down the site.

If you are working on a website or a tablet, you can find online image resizers that can optimize your, usually phone-taken, image to something reasonable. There is a distinction between too big in terms of mbs and took big in terms of image size. Our forum resizer is for when the image is OK from a mb perspective but too big in terms of dimensions.

I will be looking to see if I can find a forum automatic resizer so that the process will be done on the server side instead of your side. Stay tuned.

Alternatively, increased image upload size is a perk of being a Supporting Member. We wanted to say thank you to those few that choose to support the community financially. It's a relatively small number so it doesn't impact our hosting costs or speed.

Hi - we had to adjust file upload size as we grew. We had it unlimited for a while but it did start to impact our hosting cost and speed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

just going to use this thread for the 20g as well.

it's been going green real fast. As in, the water turns green. what is it? Anyway, didn't appear to bother the fish or shrimp. But it bothered me. Tossed an AC 50 on it with a filter/carbon pad combo and it's clearing it up, as you will see below.

blurry pic of big daddy (or momma) shrimp.

dwarf flame, but also to see how not clear it is.

doing a big wc this weekend, i'm thinking the sponge filter just isn't doing enough for all the fish in the tank.

Hi Count Krunk! How are your tanks going?
Managed to miss this somehow!

So, life took a huge turn. I got laid off from my job in IT as PM. With some former coworkers we said F the man and started our own IT company. BSD Systems | Managed IT Solutions we are taking clients if any small or medium sized business needs some IT support or guidance.

My wife is forever remote, always has been and always will be. The company she works for is small and has never had an office. We found a beautiful property in rural VA and went for it. So moving everything 300 miles north involved us getting rid of a bunch of stuff.

However, I still have both the 135g, 20g, and 3.5g shrimp tank. The 20g sits forlornly on the floor in the bathroom. Waiting for a stand it may never see haha. The 3.5g shrimp tank chugs along and produces so many shrimp (blue and yellow neos).

The 135g is finally on the road to coming online. We have a shed, that is more akin to a tiny one room house than a shed, that we are starting to renovate. Here the 135g tank will live. There is no room in the house for the 6' tank.

With that in mind, the build has morphed a bit. Just a tiny bit. Instead of a 40g breeder sump it will have a 33g long sump. The 20g will be turned into a qt tank.

The shed is on track to be done by end of Feb, so tank will be ramping up just as soon as that project closes.

Congrats on your new company, and new property! We just moved cross-country a few months ago, so I know what a pain it probably was.
