I think I need to try this once it warms up in the spring. What sort of substrate do you have in there?
It was just a repurposed planter with old organic potting soil from a failed gardenia bush lol. I started throwing clippings in there, then one day it rained hard, filled the planter, and the lightbulb went off. (I’m not that bright)
 
It's so cool to see aquatic plants thriving outside in pots. I'll try that. I always give mine away; I hate to trash them. But planting them in pots may be a good alternative, at least for those that can thrive (of course, it is hard to plant outside Ambulias or Cabombas and expect them to survive...).
