Question of the Day UV Sterilizers - good or bad for planted aquariums?

UV sterilizers can be useful on planted aquariums, especially for controlling free-floating algae and improving water clarity. They generally won’t harm healthy plants when properly sized and operated.
The main things to consider are UV wattage, flow rate, and contact time. If you dose chelated fertilizers, particularly iron, it’s also worth considering when you run the UV since some compounds can be affected by UV exposure.
