Looking to rescape a 60x40x40 tank with a triangular layout with trident java fern attached to the drift wood. Is there a big difference between the trident java fern and the mini version ? Anyone with experience in using both - please comment.

Good question. I currently have Trident Fern Narrow (ADA) and Mini (BurrAqua) in a holding tank, and am interested to know how mini the 'Trident Mini' grows, too. Obviously mine aren't grown in yet, but are getting planted tomorrow, and I can't ever get a concrete answer on the mini variety for mature size.

Nice, do you mind sharing a pic after you have planted them.

I have trident mini in my current tank and have had the regular trident in previous set ups. IME, mini is more compact and stays in a tighter "clump" for lack of a better word. What I have is probably one third the size of regular trident.

Thanks. My LFS who i like to support had the regular trident version, and ended up buying it. But looks the mini version is what i was looking for.

Just adding a note - in my tanks I’ve found it best not to firmly attach the various ferns. Mostly just tie and weight them and set them in place and if need be put something in front of it. Then as they slowly grow I can easily pull the bunches out and pull off the new growth and any dead leaves as time allows without creating a huge disturbance. I’m sure it’s a matter of personal preference but this is what I’m currently doing and it seems to work.

Thanks! I got this in preparation for an eventual rescape when i plan to attach it to driftwood. For now, i buried it superficially in aquasoil and seems to be holding well.

Also curious to know if the trident version gets those small plantlets at the tips after adapting to one's aquarium ?

I do find a few, nothing like the amount on regular java fern though, and they seem to always be underneath the newer growth so they're not very noticeable.
