RO Water Barrel Maintenance

I picked up one of these from BRS during their black Friday sale for under $300. It replaced an Apec RO-90. 200gph vs 90gph and 20-25 TDS out vs 0 TDS out. Very happy with it so far.
I have the 75gpd BRS one currently! If I can get away with enough gpd to get rid of the barrel or at least not need 2,it would make it so much easier, Do you still use a storage barrel with this one? I guess that also depends on how many tanks someone has lol

Also, check your home's water pressure. To get the best performance out of these high gph (and least waste water) units. You want at least 60psi going into the unit. I have a hair under 60 so I plan to add a booster pump soon. The Waterdrop already has a built-in booster pump.

I have a booster pump hooked up at 70psi! I can say there was definitely a difference on the days I forgot to plug it in lmao

I can completely confirm this. Adding a booster pump to my 150 gpd system literally doubled the speed of the output - and got me even lower TDS water.

I’m hoping this device allows me to go from two barrels to one and after doing a set of water changes to empty that one barrel avoiding biofilm buildup. One thing I’ll gave to see about is heating the fresh water. It’s very cold here in winter and i’m not sure how long it will take to heat a fresh barrel of water.

I was using an ispring unit that provided about 50 gpd. I think that one provides around 2-4 TDS. I moved that to another space where I've cobbled together a “plant farm”. I can check it but i think it was lower than 7. I think the waterspot is a good trade of cost, volume, TDS. But its only been running a few days. .

Disturbance in the force here folks…. Not sure how or if i’m going to deal with this but i have been throwing errors on this waterdrop unit and talking to their service department just now they tell me the unit is not intended to run for more than a half hour steady without a break. So my idea of running 2 hours straight to fill a barrel will apparently cause errors. I don’t understand how it worked the first time. Im also receiving another error. Working both. Will provide updates

I’ve communicated with water drop on the errors. Their take is the product is intended to be used only with the faucet they provide. They don’t expect people to leave the faucet on for more than a half hour so they throw an error whenever running for more than a half hour. You just need to power cycle and keep going and that’s what I’ve been doing and not having an issue. I’d rather not have to do this. I sometimes get a different error when the tank is full and it turns out this is due to the float valve “bouncing” on & off which is detected and flagged as an error. So now once the barrel is full I close the valve to the barrel and it avoids these errors. While I’d rather not have to deal with these errors the unit still works great and fills my barrel up in roughly 90 minutes. I’m keeping it.
