Moving in the near future (what would you do)

My wife and I agreed we'd ideally be moving in the next 6-12 months. There's the possibly it could be sooner if the right place pops up, and could possibly be longer, although not ideal. This has made me pause and reconsider setting up my 120p in this house (and a 20 gallon too!). The thought of having the tank up and running for possibly a short period of time before having to break it down and move it sounds pretty terrible compared to moving all of individual components. I currently have my 75p, so I'm not tankless and would need to move that.

Location would still be in the same general region (20-40 mile radius) and we'd likely maintain overlap between homes for a 1 month.

What would you do?

I just had to go through the experience of moving a 120cm tank between homes, empty. It's not hard, but it's really stressful and unpleasant. That glass is really, really heavy.

Moving is already so stressful in general... If it were me, I'd enjoy the 75cm tank, focus all of your efforts and attention to it, and reward yourself after your new move with setting up the 120cm tank! I think you'll be plenty stressed about moving the 75cm tank alone lol

I moved 5 tanks when i moved 8 miles - 120 gallon, 10 gallon, 2 29 gallon and a 40 gallon. Because it was a local move and i owned both places (the place i was living was sold but i had time to move things before closing); so i could take my time and move one aquarium at a time.

None of your aquariums are very large and if you buy a set of white pails from homedepot or similar (the white ones are label food safe); it is feasible to to move them - but do not under-estimate the work. it takes a pail for the substrate and one or two pails for the plants/fishes and some nervous ness but it is feasible - just be aware that fishes will panic and have a tendency ot jump so you want to put something over the pail (either a lid with holes to vent or partial covering with cardboard or similar).

Should you do it - well that is up to you. So no comment but moving that 40b took me around 5 hours to tear it down and put it in the car and anotehr hour to setup at the new home. The smaller ones less time with the 10 only taking an hour or so.

DO NOT think you can leave the substrate in the tank.... i use a dog scoop (for food) to remove the substrate - nice shape works well.
