Redsea also has DIY kits

Here is the screen top that I had custom made for my 120p. Keeps the roinbow’s in. 😀
I know @GreggZ has a canopy but I think one of these would be great. With the number and size of rainbows he has, I can imagine them smacking the canopy constantly! Gregg, do you ever hear the bangs of fish hitting it?

On the reef keeping side most of us just made our own screen tops using window screen hardware and plastic mesh netting. The netting can be found on Bulk Reef Supply's website, but the window screen kits can be purchased at HD or Lowes.

On a reef tank is so much easier to make a plastic net window screen top because almost everyone has a sump so the top lays perfectly flat on the tank. When you have intake and outflow pipes, brackets for lights, etc., you'd need to work around them and at a certain point it's almost not worth the effort in the number of cuts and 90 degree pieces you'd need to use.

So right now my tank has absolutely nothing preventing fish from leaping out. I've so far lost one Oto and two rasboras. I managed to save one rasbora a few weeks back because I was sitting in front of my tank and I swore something was leaking because I heard a "drip". After a few minutes as I heard the drip I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and a rasbora had launched itself out at some point. I've noticed that the fish jumped when I filled the tank up closer to the surface rather than keeping the water level 1" below the top of the tank so I'm reducing the level back to 1" below, but I might make one of these tops eventually.

LOL yes every so often if you are sitting in the room you get a pretty bang. Once in a while they are even dazed for a few minutes.

In addition to the canopy I have some egg crate along the back. But still every so often one finds it way out. Just a few weeks ago I was rearranging some wiring and found one on the floor behind the tank......looks like he had been there for a LONG time.

I’ve got a mix of rimless tanks with no top and rimmed tanks with lids. Then there’s the emersed tanks… after more than 10 years of keeping emersed plants and at least as many different tanks… they still get a new plastic wrap lid about once a year! 😂🤦🏻‍♂ I’ve tried glass lids on them but I live in the desert, they don’t work nearly as well.

Arizona is rough on tanks without lids. The 60p gets at least 12-20 oz top off DAILY! Summer time can be more than double that depending on if we are running the swamp cooler(<95* & 10% humidity outside) or regular AC. If I don’t have a 5g of rodi left for top offs after I finish water changes, I feel like I didn’t get enough water.
