Where are you seeing this? Their site still shows the 2025 info, I've been checking every few days waiting for the announcement. I hope to compete this year. Glad to see its open for a few months! I thought it would only have a window during August, my tank wouldn't be ready, but it seems like I will be able to this year (if the dwarf hairgrass can get spreading already).

They always post on social media first. I saw it on Insta. which tank are you submitting? I love the small tank categories. Allows someone to complete with small tanks and get reps.

Ah okay that makes sense I guess.

I'll be competing with my main tank, 60 liter, 60p tank journal.

I saw they announced a new category today. I am a bit new, this has me wondering what they will define as "classic"
The description I saw on Instagram said it was modeled after the Scape Crunch contest of 2024. So I think it is more freestyle garden type. A friend in the AGA advisory committee had messaged me about doing something. I mentioned the Scape Crunch contest and sent her links. The announcement below says they are working with Scape Crunch. So I assume they got up with Art. I think it will be great.

Dutch impressionism! 😁😁🤞🤞💯

Paging @Art 😎

Ha! I had forgotten about this. I was going to mention in my post that I had complained to AGA friends about the lack of this type category. It seems I already mentioned it. Maybe my complaining paid off. :p

I still like the term Dutch Inspired, but I get it, there are many differences between true Dutch and the pics above. I am def one of the people on social media who is a little triggered when I see a tank with a bunch of plants labeled Dutch. Classic will be a better term. It leaves room for all sorts of styles and interpretations beyond just lots of plants. Garden or Dutch Inspired wouldn't cover that.

Hi - yes, happy to see the AGA taking what we started and taking it to the next level.

The AGA committee contacted me to get some of our thoughts on the garden style. I pointed them to our contest rules and guidance.

Looking forward to seeing what guidance they come out with.
