But now I am out of emersed erios and almost out of chai.
Is that you selling the emersed quin? I was wondering how that person (you) did it. Just a cup of aquasoil under a light? I'm interested because I'm, for some unknown reason, getting crazy about having some of these, but I want to do different things with my tank. So I need somewhere else to grow the erios and blood vomit. Also, would be a great backup method if the tank crashes.

For making money off plants my advice is dont get too caught up in the expensive hard stuff. Youll make 100 from Lud super red mini quicker than you will with something like chai or quin. And its quickly repeatable, every 2 or 3 weeks. Think bright colors that need co2 but still easy to grow. Thatll be your sweet spot

I'll be interested to hear what Jeff says but as far as youtube, if you have a business that sells something it can be a big boost. But its gonna be nigh impossible to make money off the channel itself like just from views or whatever, especially now with all the AI
Yeah, YouTube’s a mess right now. I did the math — I’m making somewhere between 10 and 15 cents an hour. So, you tell me if that’s worth it. Competition is exploding with AI, and the usual advice — make better videos, post more, follow trends — doesn’t cut it anymore. The whole business model is shifting. Creators can now pay for audiences, while YouTube pays less and views are dropping. With AI flooding the platform, scarcity has turned into oversupply. And this is just the beginning of the AI apocalypse.

My advice: make videos because you want to share your passion. I’m working on what I hope will be my masterpiece — to give back to the community I love. And based on the results I will proceed accordingly.

That was me, in the auction fb group. I just used a deli cup with aquasoil under a good grow light. I started with a tc of erio quin that I split about 2/3 of to my tank and the rest to grow emersed. And before I sold any I had 5 emersed ones and 18 submerged ones.

And it seems like 75% of the population now list their occupation as "Digital Creator". 🙄

Not in tank or anything? Just a cup under a light? That's cool.

So, I’ve actually made about $40 from selling chai and also $40 from selling erio quin this past few months, and none from ludwigia super red.
But now I am out of emersed erios and almost out of chai. I should post my Ludwigia on fb marketplace, I could probably sell it easily there.
Right but that money is over a few months you said. How often can it be repeated? The slow growth is the main limiting factor. But of course you have to put the plants in front of the right people, super reds or otherwise

Theres a facebook group called "planted tank quick auctions''. About 8K members, only posts are auctions and only bids allowed in comments. Theres a template to use. Its pretty good for anything, but it has to be a good deal to begin with. Spend some time watching all the others to get a feel for how to do it

Other venues are Etsy, reddit, make a plant store facebook page. Post sale threads here, not a huge audience but growing more every day. Ebay is another

For the avg hobbyist that wants to capitalize on their valuable trimmings every few weeks, but doesnt necessarily want to make it a business, that auction group on facebook is a pretty good place to do it

Those are just some thoughts

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually did post the chai and erios in the auction group. I guess I should just post the ludwigia cheaper if I want to sell it there.

Right gotta make it a good deal to begin with, then it can creep up with bids, ideally lol. Its a fairly common plant anywhere you put it. Try a bigger qty and lower starting price. My point above is plants like this make up for being cheap-ish by growing fast and being able to sell more often

@Asher E. You saw that auction I just posted lol. Ive had that go in the 30s and had crickets too. You see how I mention having more stuff, thats big too because people love to save money on shipping. Well over half the time the winner winds up buying more stuff from me. Also I do free shipping over 85+, a lot of people shoot for that to save 12 bucks. Its just a good deal. I dont put that in the auction. Thats after the fact when they get linked to my list on here

Little things like that can make a big difference in your overall numbers. Even if you have only a couple more things, can say you have more. Just a line on it, they dont like a lot of self promotion. But a subtle mention is fine and it get peoples attn
