I was looking for a certain picture and found a bunch of tanks I had years ago.
This was an aquascape I had in a 20 High dated June 7, 2005
The Juncus repens was collected from a bog around Dallas or Houston. I can't remember
The rocks were collected local to where I lived at the time on the West Virginia line near Pembrook, Virginia
The substrate was this new stuff everyone was trying out, Eco-Complete.
Yet... my current tank is a storm.

I think this is a great thread, maybe everyone can chime in with their earliest “scapes” or attempts at planted aquariums. When I find mine I’ll pop back in
