doing a hot fog deodorizer after they finish

It's your house, you get to tell them you do not want a deodorizer!

Don't let them push a service on you you don't want. If it's not part of the mold killing, they don't need to do it. You might have to babysit them to make sure they do what you want.

I would err on the side of not doing it 😬

Thank you all for the advice and info on the mold remediation! I’m going to cover/seal the aquariums with plastic dropcloths. Even without doing the deodorizer, I’m afraid the mold treatment could cause problems, so I’m being cautious. I may move the 2 small shrimp tanks to the main floor, but the other aquariums will have to stay down there.
I didn’t realize I would need to cover the filters too, but I can do that.

Hi @Kwyet , how did the remediation go?
It went well! They’re just waiting for the lab results to come back, probably Monday or Tuesday. Then they can unseal the room and we can start on the next phase, restoration. The “deodorant fog” listed on the remediation quote was actually an antimicrobial treatment that was necessary. None of the fish or shrimp died. :)

I still haven’t done any water changes, just topping off with RODI water. I see hair algae in a lot of the low-tech tanks (oddly, the Dutch tank cleared up), but they aren’t completely terrible. It’ll just take some work when I can get access to water. They said they might be able to put in a temporary sink for me, but not until they get the restoration quote ready and we sign it. They couldn’t come up with the quote until the demolition was done and the mold was gone. If the lab report comes back still showing a mold problem, they’ll treat it again at no charge.

Still no sign of the missing snake, unfortunately. If it’s still down there, all the activity has probably kept it in hiding.

Thanks for asking!

The lab results are negative, so the bathroom is open again. There isn’t a sink yet though. We should get a quote for the rebuild by Friday. It’s been 3 1/2 weeks since the last water change/maintenance on the tanks. About 1/3 of them are looking pretty rough, with lots of hair algae. The rest really aren’t bad. If the Python will reach up the stairs, tonight I’ll try to fill my Brute trash can from the upstairs bathroom, and enlist my daughter to turn the water off when I yell, lol. Now that the bathroom is available I can send water from the tanks to the tub. I want to try to get things back in fairly decent shape so I can stay out of the way while they’re working on the rebuild.
