Suggestions for carpet plants, low tech

Hi all. I am working on a strict budget for my 20g long low-tech "aquascape" (Personally do not think it looks like one, sadly). My plants have died off, especially my Val that used to thrive and produce runners weekly. I have struggled with algae a lot, and most recently the debris that gets picked up by my obnoxious peppered corydoras. But I just got GLA ferts, using the PPS pro medium light method, so hopefully things will get better soon. But could anyone recommend carpet plants that could fill the bad-looking gaps between the wood and stone? And around the stone island structure. Thanks all

Dwarf sag is pretty adaptable, but it can be very variable in height and is kind of coarse for a carpet. Something like hairgrass or marsilea could work, but I'd hesitate to start them in an unstable tank. You could try them once your algae issue is under control. Cryptocoryne 'Lucens' is my favorite smaller crypt. It's not really a carpeting plant, but is great for sticking in gaps. Crypt parva is smaller, but much more of a pain to grow. 'Lucens' is underrated IMO.
