Wow That is awesome. As someone that doesn't have a basement, I'm envious of the possibilities for something like this. I had to commandeer a neighboring closet, to my wife's chagrin, to hold my RO water tank then run RO tubing over baseboards to the outside wall, drill through it and set up the RODI outside. What you have is much better.

How cold does it get down there?

How cold does it get down there?

Honestly, not that cold. Maybe a couple degrees colder than the rest of the house. With that said, at nite the thermostat drops to 67 degrees. I assume the basement could get to maybe 65 degrees. I try to keep the aquariums 73-75 degrees in the winter so my goal is to get/keep the RO water a little closer to tank temps. The 50watt Eheim I had in there just was not keeping up.

FYI, the furnace is literally inches away from the RO drum with the water heater tucked behind the RO drum.

Good friend of mine did this pic several years ago. Have always liked this one - mostly because of how the bows decided to play along with the photo process
Next week should be interesting (stressful?). My goal is to take the empty tank off the stand, change a few things, then put things back together again. Should be fun.......

Finally changing out the VERY dirty EcoComplete for OASE Scaper Line active substrate.
Been meaning to talk to you about your change over to Landen. I am guessing I will need to pay attention to PO4 levels for awhile. Don't think I will have much of an ammonia spike, but will be prepared for it if I do.
Any other thoughts, comments, concerns you can think of?

Progress so far...
Tank background has been upgraded from a simple piece of black corrugated plastic panel (which allowed calcium deposits to get between it and the glass) to 2.5% Window Tint. I also did the right hand panel as it faces the front window. I have also added 45L of OASE Scaper Line active substrate.
One of the more irritating parts of the process was re-leveling the tank. Since it was installed 8 years ago, the right side has always been about 3/8" low - thats fixed now

Not to much to look at right now, but I suspect it "should" grow in nicely. Time will tell.

Really liking the 2.5% window tint background. Seems to make the colors pop even more than usual (well, more than they did).
Water quality cleared up nicely overnite so it has been rather enjoyable to sit and look at the tank today.

Interesting. The first pic (post 35) the albino bow middle left and the Alternanthera NOID (bottom left) look washed out. I adjusted the warmth of the picture on my iPhone 13 and on the iPhone, the picture looks exactly like what I see in person. The 3rd pic above has the most warmth correction, but still looks washed out.

I quite like the black tint on the back of your tank. You've put in a lot of work, and I'm sure it's worthwhile, well done Linn

Thanks @Joel Armstrong - lot of work but results are worth it. I am very much liking my view of the "new" tank from the couch. So much better with the new background.
