Progress photos.
And I have given the scapes names.
Both are very much works in progress, and I am likely going to changes some of the plants.
“Au Bon Vin”. Un double entendre…. At night I sit and look at the tank and contemplate where I want to go with it while sipping on a cordial glass of Port or Sherry…. Also in homage to Vin Kutty as I read and study his critiques of AGA Dutch aquascape entries.
Current plans are to replace veil on left with something else, expanding Pantanal to the right a bit oin order to have Cardinal Lobelia street disappear behind it, yet rise above the Corymbosa Compacta. Allow stargrass to get a bit taller in front of the Pantanal and shorten as it approaches glass.
Swap Rununculous with the Utricularia Gramifolia. . The Utricalaria color and height should provide more contrast than the Ranunculous against the Corymbosa and Star Grass.
I am not sold on the Rotal OJ here. I am giving it another month to decide if I go with it or replace it.
My Samolous Parviflora took a serious hit and I dont know why. It melted away on me. At this point it remains to be seen if it recovers.
“It’s Miller Time”. In homage to Mike Miller who is most responsible for my learning how to grow healthy plants rather than an algae farm…. No. I never sit and sip or chug a Miller while looking at this scape…
Again, veil plant on the left is a place holder. Looking to replace it.
The Ammania Gracilis is likely to go too. I think it is just too big a plant to use in a 29 gallon. The stems can approach 5-6 inches in diameter and it looks cramped and out of place here.
The roata blood red sg is a keeper. The Cardinal Lobelia street is suffering from green spot algae on lower leaves. I lowered fert dosing sue to green dust algae in glass and I think .i went too far…. I have switched to PPS pro dosing so I am planning on giving it time and see if that heals things..
The S Repens have since been moved to the right around the Pink Flamingo Crypt. Thinking Ranunculous in front of Cardinal street, but open to other suggestions. The S Repens just wasnt offering enough contrast…. I had to trim off a lot of the Pink Flamingos older leaves that started growing black brush algae after switching to leaner dosing. It is going to take quite some time to regain height here…
I bought some Limnophila Rugosa for rear right to replace anubias covered driftwood and have a lighter green in the corner. I am not sold on it here though. It’s leaf shape and size doesnt contrast as much with the Cardinal Lobelia now that it has converted to submersed form. Open to suggestions here too…
I am thinking this scape is going to take more than 5-6 months to come in to its own and undergo a long awkward ugly duckling stage…
Heck I am open to all suggestions…
