It will be tough to get away, but I have managed to finagle enough coverage for the weekend, so I did it! I have my ticket! I figure why not? It’s actually not that far from me. Daichi Araki from ADA is teaching an aquascaping masterclass on Saturday morning. Also interested in the ADA Shizuku workshop.

Juris Jutjajevs previously announced he will be attending the Jersey show.

I have never been to an Aquashella, so don’t entirely know what to expect, but I presume it is much like any large convention exhibit hall experience. Any ‘Crunchers thinking of attending the Jersey show?

The shizuku workshop is worth it and I love mine.

I need to message Ryan about competing here or the next one if it's not full up as I would be a fringe candidate to be accepted.

If you were going to buy fish, shrimp or plants go day one and early. If just going for the workshops, wander around and talk to folks go later. AFA sold out of ADA Mini-M deals in about 3 hours and half their books.

I have early entry tickets, as I expect it to be an absolute zoo there. I will be limited to what I can fly home with in regards to 'stuff'. Maybe tissue culture plants, and books, but nothing potted, or livestock. Honestly mostly going for the sessions. If AFA has their ADA tools with them, a couple could find their way back in my suitcase. I assume you sign up in advance for the shizuku workshop? Although, if I do attend that workshop, anything I make I may have to give away before I leave.

AFA sells tickets. If you click the last one you can see my tissue culture plant hall. The ADA tissue culture plants are nice and plentiful. They will have most of the tools, books, shirts, DOOA gear etc and a show discount of 15% off and package pricing. My Shizuku at almost 2 months old.5043.webp

Beautiful! I love ADA tissue culture. That tissue culture did better than some others in my 150, and they were generously sized, and super healthy. They ship better, too, as most weren't in gel media. All ordered from AFA in SF. I spend way too much money there 😂 If AFA has rocks at Aquashella, I may need to take an extra suitcase!

They will have the smaller Kumu stuff. But there are hardscape vendors there usually.

I am trying to get there for that Saturday. Would love to meet you all. My daughter gets married 4 October and I’m trying to “stay out of trouble “ so to speak in advance of that. I’ve never been to an aquashella but it sounds like a great time!

After talking to the wife I want to try and compete in Chicago as the later date works better for us and she loves visiting Chicago in the fall. I will definitely do another Shizuku with her as the designer. It's so nice how ADA break down the setup and streamline it for ease.

I booked my flights and a room at the Hilton garden there. Hope to meet any others “crunchers”. Will you be there Ben? Adam?
I am at the same hotel. Apparently they have a shuttle to the convention center, presuming it's not too crazy. Need Art to make some Scapecrunch shirts or hats so I can find my fellow Crunchers 😆

If anyone else does go, and is interested in the Shizuku workshop, AFA currently has those tickets available, for both New Jersey, and Chicago, on their website:

Shizuku Workshop Tickets

The workshop is limited to 20 participants, and yes, I do have my ticket 😁 This is going to be so much fun.

I really wanted to go, but I have a vacation that's been planned for a year that starts right after that weekend. So I can't make it. I was hoping to make it for Chicago, but I'll still be on vacation. Hopefully the ADA will still be doing stuff next year or someone will.
