I believe that our feeling of community, quality of information and friendliness are the most important things that, over time, will grow our community. As admin, however, I have to also see how we are doing on the Internet and Google Analytics is an important tool for that. This may or may not be important to you. For the stat junkies, below is what Google says we've done in the first 6 months of 2026.

I normally look for the trends - the green arrow pointing up and the numbers at least being double digits year-over-year. In the graph, the dotted line is last year same time versus this year (the solid line). I would say we're doing pretty good.

I'm sure there is some rogue AI bot noise in this that is inflating the numbers but the point is seeing an upward trend.

Looking forward to seeing how we will end up the year.

All the best,

Thanks Thank You GIF

Hi everyone,

I'm very pleased to share with you that our 2026 Help Cover Our Costs Campaign was very successful. We exceeded our goal about 22% so 122% of our goal. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Together with those of you that registered or re-registered to be Supporting Members, we now have a very comfortable cushion to cover our operating expenses. At the moment, we stand with $1,363.81 in the bank. Our operating expenses are $595 annually so we have almost 3 years worth covered.

It will be our practice to run an annual campaign to try and raise a year's worth of expenses. Hopefully, this will keep us well ahead of expenses and in a good economic position.

Thank you for all you do for our growing community. This site is truly by us and for us. We take being good stewards of our planted aquarium hobby very seriously and I'm honored to be a part of this with you.

All the best,

Art

Green Leaf Aquariums has just release a 2.0 Version of their CO2 reactor. It has 90 degree elbow at the inlet to really create a swirl effect and a CO2 atomizer, thus really upping CO2 absorption efficiency. I have their first version of reactor and plumbed a CO2 Atomizer, and the tech support chat looked it over with a thumbs up even suggest I retro fit a 90 elbow instead of 45 degree for an efficiency boost. They are now playing with adding a port for auto dosing ferts to have them integrate inside the reactor. I like such thinking! Here is a link from their facebook page. It's still in testing.

Has anyone grown the pearl varietal? Is this the correct form for the plant? Does it colour up more or does the top side of the leaf stay green?

I see a lot of incredible scapes on Instagram but this one had me wondering if it was video color or AI enhanced. Apparently legit. Just amazing as are some of their other scapes.

Hi all,

Starting a new 240L tank and looking for a source of dry ferts. This can be difficult in more remote Australia.
So far I think my options would be cop the expensive postage on well known micros from overseas as this would be a smaller package. Then source KNO3 by ringing some hydroponic places as this is more difficult to have shipped.
MgSO4 is easily obtained at garden centres or Bunnings.
Keen to hear opinions for global micros and perhaps any aussies may chime in with more local macro options?

Cheers

Has anyone here attempted to keep neocaradinia/Cardinia shrimp or ramshorn snails at CO₂ concentrations exceeding 50+ ppm? My experience has been that the semi-adult ramshorns tend to get really sluggish and eventually die; the younger ones are more active and live until they reach a critical mass. I've had better luck with bladder snails as a cleanup crew; they seem to have a much higher tolerance for CO₂.. I would like to add shrimp to this tank that hits upwards of 50 ppm every day and was wondering if it's a good idea.

I typically setup my tanks based on plants I like and fish are an afterthought. I’d like to setup a tank for pea puffers though! I have an ADA 60p that’s just hanging around waiting for me to do something with it. Have any of you guys setup for pea puffers? Any advice on setting up a tank to make them happy?
